You all will be disappointed with me. I had a relapse to my previous obsession
, I mean hobby. I spent some of my knife money on this c1860-1880s corkscrew. I'm not worthy.

That is a beauty! I can see that you are painfully addicted to collecting. If you continue this course of action, you may need to buy a large shed (I have two) to house all your items (which I have too many) or open your own store (I have a small one) to keep all of your collectables displayed for resale.

Hi Seventy. I am quite addicted to collecting and ebay. Besides knives and corkscrews, I also have vintage wine and champagne ads and posters
. On the plus side, I sold three of my corkscrews for a tidy sum this week so I have some money to spend. Somebody please help me before I spend again

s-k you seem to have things under control 
If you can make a profit, then collecting becomes merchandising,etc. and you can enjoy the fruits of your labors.

Hey smiling-knife,
I have to ask is that antique corkscrew also used as barber's brush when you wake up in the morning after drinking what was in the bottle..
That is pretty cool looking, nice hobby...

Hi Sunburst. Yes
...looks much like a shaving brush. Used to brush the dust and cobwebs etc off the bottles brought-up from the cellar. It is a cool hobby but can be quite expensive ::eek:: I'm limiting myself to the very odd good piece now. At the same time, I'm selling off some that I have to fund future purchases including more knives. Here is one of my favorites. A 1880s James Heeley and Sons A1 Double lever.

I like corkscrews, I don't collect and I have no antiques but I have accumulated a bunch of waiter's corkscrews (and a few others) over the years. It's like part of the ritual to take out and use my Chateau Laguiole when I get a good bottle of wine.
