Well I'm wondering what I found today. It is from an estate sale. It was in a tool box with Misc. Junk.No one there had any idea about the " junk" because it was an estate sale
.If anyone has a thought please chime in whi look st I head for the internet. Thanks for your advice. I am considering an oil soak to remove god knows what and stop the corrosion.
If you don't like my dog then you're really not going to like me.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
I picked these up over the weekend. The knives has some use but still have some life left in 'em. It is always good to find a cheapo wrench or two to throw in the old tool bag... I am not very familiar with Syracuse Knife Company but, it looks like Syracuse knives (1935-1940) were made by Camillus here in the USA. I am always happy to find a "new" Camillus to add to the pile, so I'll call it a good find
Anyone have an idea as to the aprox. date on the Hammer Brand?
Also, as a side note, I have a friend who always wants to handle my Hammer Brand knives. He is a handyman and always working on some project and always has grubby, greasy hands.
I always have to tell him "You can't touch this!"

The tang stamp should be 1945-55 according to this chart.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Fleamarket finds.
Hammer brand
Imperial
Old Imperial was rather rusty, did the
trick then a little more elbow grease and it fit to be with it's brother
knife.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thanks fellers I like old shell handle knives they are knives of my youth. Here's a few, Imperial on the left Hammer brand on the right.
They tend to get razor sharp with a few stokes on the Lanksy. I'm thinking about painting the handles one of these days.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
I saw an old Imperial shell handle like in your photos on a table at the flea market on Saturday. I picked it up and it had NO BLADE. The guy said "That's a rare knife and on ebay it goes for $19-$20 like that" I said "With no blade it is worth nothing" He said "Oh no! That would bring $20 on Ebay no problem. You can have it for $10" At that point I had to walk away...bighomer wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 6:21 pm Thanks fellers I like old shell handle knives they are knives of my youth. Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
This was really a find
I found this in the ground after helping a friend clean up a distressed property. We were busting up a cement slab and there it was half buried
Now let's see how it cleans up...

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Dan, I have it soaking in 5% vinegar in 106- 109 degree daytime heat and the rust is blowing off it...
