Colonial Executive Ruler Pocket Knife.
Today, my trip to the post office produced this pocket knife. It is an "EXECUTIVE", two blades, one tang stamp, 3 1/2" closed, all metal, "ruler" pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "EXECUTIVE (over) U.S.A." The main handle side is a ruler. It measures in inches, in 16ths of an inch and in 32nds of an inch. It also says MADE IN U.S.A. and STAINLESS STEEL. The other handle side is also a ruler and it measures in millimeters. It also says DESIGN REGD and EXECUTIVE. Per GOINS, "EXECUTIVE USA g 1960-1980" and per the 12th edition of the OFFICIAL PRICE GUIDE TO COLLECTOR KNIVES, "Executive (U.S.A.) Colonial brand." This pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition and it required very little cleaning.
I took some pictures and here it is.

Never seen such a thing before! I've seen several that were made in Sheffield, and it wasn't that long ago Marbles copied those, but I've never seen a Colonial.

What an awesome find. If you think about it Colonial was ahead of it's time. It's like an early precursor to the modern day Leatherman.

Nice find Skip. Ibberson Sheffield and others made a similar knife, known as the “Chesterman” ruler-knife. Patented circa 1934. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=11534
I’ve never seen one by Colonial before, so I’d say they were probably not a popular selling item, else they’d be more common.

And in many ways, they did the ruler a LOT better. I find most multitools tend to be useless for actually measuring anything. Rulers are just a way to bump the function count up.RevolverGuy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:23 pm What an awesome find. If you think about it Colonial was ahead of it's time. These knives are so cool Skip.
I've never even seen any out in the world.
If you're ever like "Man, I have too many of these ruler knives for personal comfort, I sure wish I could trade my worst one out for something totally different but equally cool" then I could probably help you out.

Yes, I do. Thank you, John.
My trips or visits to the post office are made so much more enjoyable
knowing what is waiting for me. All my bills are paid online. So, only
goodies and or junk mail are waiting for me. I can't wait for tomorrow.....

Nice Skip - so you live at about the same “mile high” altitude as Denver - looks like a nice place to call home.
