BONES BONES BONES
Re: BONES BONES BONES
I have 2 examples of "pressed stag". The smaller (top) knife is a Vom Cleff, German. The larger barehead is Union Cutlery/Chicago, in existence for just two years, and slightly before country of origin was required. German? Goins doesn't say, and this company is not found in Levine's.

Those are some beautiful bones indeed.
I have nothing quite so spectacular to show, but here's some Case bone from 1972...

The "pressed" ones are great. The old Case too. Anxious for the answer. J.O'.

Here's some modern GEC bone and some old Robeson bone I had with me today.

Very nice Ivory, those two compliment each other quite well. That Robeson has got some fantastic color to it, offset nicely by the shield.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 12:36 amGorgeous blonde color there, wow are those some beautiful pieces. Re: BONES BONES BONES
Thanks for joining and contributing in the "PRESSED" conversation Ike .
I would expect your Union knife having the look of the German "Pressed ", to be German . That's a wonderful knife. The Germans were using Sheffield and American names to help sell knives, as evidenced by the Western example of this I have.
I've never seen anything conclusive yet to sway my opinion of the material. I just can't get past not seeing any verifiable American manufacturer and the difference in the texture of German and Sheffield, if it's natural ( not logical).
I do realize I've been wrong on more than one occasion in my life.

It looks like the o in Co is also underlined ,further evidence of German manufacturing.Waukonda wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 11:48 pm I have 2 examples of "pressed stag". Happens to be one for sale with these sweet scales. If it wasn't so cracked and so high priced, I might be in the game, but it is and I'm not. But another blonde beauty for sure.

Pretty sure I've seen this very knife on Worthpoint and it was busted up much, much worse than now showing. Cracked all to pieces and overpriced for sure!!Ivoryman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 11:17 pm https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ak4AAOSw ... s-l500.jpg

Very nice looking bone and pretty cool old Western. Looks great for 60-70 years old.

Re: BONES BONES BONES
I never got around to commenting on the previous post with that Robeson. The GEC that you had it paired with is nice, as is the Camillus, but.......that Robeson has an aura about it! That is one beautiful knife, awesome bone!!

Re: BONES BONES BONES
Thank you sir and yes it’s never used or sharpened some very minor spots of patina with hint of minor pitting in those couple spots.
Re: BONES BONES BONES
