Here I go again.............I have four 6254s from different eras.
Two from USA with no dots have the master blade stamped 'Tested XX Razor Edge"
That is the second model.
QUESTIONS:
Would that be the ones listed in price guide as 'polished edge'?
Two: Was this etching used on regular blades as well as muskrats?

Jim used the "polished Edge" phrase just to help emphasize what SSP means, which is stainless steel blades and springs with a polished cutting edge. A polished edge according to Case's catalog #81 was an extra step applied to a honed edge by use of a felt wheel. This supposedly resulted in a much finer razor sharp blade.The etching was used only on stainless blades within this period and for several years subsequent on the original SSP line. The 1st model stainless also had a polished edge though the etching was "Tested XX Stainless" on that one(I have yet to see a muskrat on it though)Both regular and muskrat versions had the etch on stainless examples.(as far as I've been able to see the muskrat blade is found only on USA era 54 Trappers). There were also carbon muskrat blades within the USA era and they did not have the etch nor did the regular carbon blades. Hope this helps.
