Custom Shop Buck 110 - Petrified Wood Scales

Post by Redrummd »

I finished a Custom Shop Buck 110 with incredible petrified wood scales. It looks astonishing in hand as the pictures just do not do justice to the stone as it is translucent and you can see down into the layers of agate and opal. Yes, agate and opal. The white is opal and the darkest brown hard agate with a trasition through the stone from one silicate form agate, to another, opal.

The slabs were perfectly matched as you can see from the pictures. Tough to do with stone...

I just have to say, this is absolutely my favourite knife so far I've seen you do. That stone is exceptional! the bookmatch effect I think just adds to it. I haven't been doing much customizing lately, and I've got the urge to do something again. (been working on non-knife stuff, but related kinda ;) )

It was a really unusual piece of petrified wood and all but one thin slab is gone. I am thinking of doing a Case XX Seahorse with the last piece but the pattern will need to run across the knife as there is just the one piece. I wish I had another 20 slabs as it really is incredible.
