Late Night Lodge

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Corned beef and Irish whisky (and Guinness Stout) was wonderful. I’m up half the night paying for eating all that cabbage though. Until next St. Patrick’s Day.
Maybe I can get back to sleep.

We couldn't have corned beef yesterday, being a Friday during Lent and all, but I plan on getting a Ruben tonight. Guinness and Irish whiskey were on yesterday's menu tho! 🍻🥃🍀🇮🇪

4:00 am. Late night or early morning ? Since I just got home, I’d say late night. I need to get some much needed sleep. Goodnight.

Back to sleep. I stayed up watching TV. Meant to sleep earlier but Hondo came on. One of The Dukes best films!

It's 0215. Anyone have a solution for these middle of the night head calls? I would love to go back to sleeping through the night.

Jerry, hydration is important so I drink a lot of water but I do it early in the day If I’m feeling thirsty later on, I just drink an ounce or two to satisfy the thirst. No it may not stop the middle of the night head calls completely but it will make them less frequent. No need if you have an empty bladder. Not that I mind waking up during the night but I can’t go back to sleep once I’ve woken.

I was up until almost 2:00 last night watching The Last Emperor on TMC. Patton was on before that, they're doing a salute to the Oscars this month so there's been a lot of interesting movies on. No commercials either!!! I watched a silent movie, Sunrise, last week and it was really good. It's on YouTube if you're interested -

I also watched The Glenn Miller Story yesterday, didn't realize his plane went missing over the English Channel on December 15, 1944.

Another middle of the night head call. I'm so sick of this I could ralph. Time to crawl back in the rack and see if I can shut my brain off. ::dang::

Redrider, there is a new theory about the loss of Glenn Miller. Because of bad weather, a flight of bombers was returning to England having been unable to drop their bombs. Instructions were to drop their bombs over the English Channel. Itis thought by some that Miller's plane, flying thousands of feet below the bombers, was hit by one of the ditched bombs.

Even more tragic then, QS. To know he was taken out by friendly fire.

Glenn Miller wasn’t the only one who was killed by friendly fire. Pat Tillman turned down a multimillion dollar NFL contract to serve in the Army. Killed by friendly fire. He joined the military after the 9/11 attack. The initial report was that he was killed in an ambush. Later, the truth came out. What a surprise that the government had lied.

It was only much later, under pressure from Tillman’s family and the news media, that it came out that Tillman had died in friendly fire. Subsequent investigations revealed that actions had been taken to prevent the discovery of the circumstances under which he had been killed in order to allow the Army and the administration of U.S. Pres. George W. Bush to earn increased public sympathy for their war efforts.
There is a very good movie about this on the ROKU channel called The Tillman Story.

Just found this thread yesterday! ::facepalm::
Been working late in the shop getting ready for the OKCA show on the 15th and 16th. I am hoping to have a dozen customized or restored knives ready for the show. I seem to get more work done at night than in the day.

G'nite y'all.

PS - (addressing the OP) - I prefer Shimano spinning reels, probably have a dozen of them. I use a variety of poles but am partial to Loomis and Lamaglass springer rods for bass fishing, mostly 6-1/2' to 8' in length. I don't use bait casting poles because my left wrist is fused. It makes turning the crank very difficult and if I reverse the crank to reel right handed then I can't get a good hook set with my left hand.

You guys aren’t alone, a lot of us older women have the same problem. I asked the Dr one time and got a Rx, but it gave me terrible dry mouth that woke me up! Sent me to fridge for something cold to drink. Good luck trying to go back to sleep after that.

2AM….. I hate the insomnia. Prescribed sleep meds on board, which I hate to use. Only use when it’s pretty bad, gave me about 4.5 hours of sleep.
I guess that’s something to be grateful for. Better than being up all night. Getting back to sleep is a 50-50 proposition. Worth a try.

I usually go to bed about 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. but I'm going to try to make it to sleep by midnight tonight. Have to take my wife and stepdaughter to the airport in the morning and I'd like to get four or five hours of sleep before I have to get up at 5:00 a.m.
I usually function the best on 4 or 5 hours of sleep, much more sleep than that and I'm grogging all day long.
