Family friend moved and downsized, and when he visited recently, he dropped these two off as he said he had no more room to display things like this.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Walked into the house from the garage saw my son sitting in the living room, I walked over to my chair and found this laying in the seat. It's a belated birthday gift that was lost in the mail.

Now that is a nice gift. It's a great looking knife, and coming from your son makes it even better. It sounds like Dad taught him well!

From just that one picture that doesn't look like a real Emerson.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
I made a $10 pickup at a yard sale today...
...a double-bladed press button knife!
The blades are frozen so I cannot see the tang stamps yet, but I am guessing that it is a Schrade.
Sorry for the cruddy pictures, but it was overcast and I placed it on my knee and snapped a photo of each side as soon as I got back into the van.
I will work to open it, measure it, and post better photos in the next few days.
Also, if any of you knife mechanics have ever restored one of these, let me know any mistakes that I should avoid!

The jumping is not crisp.
The Phillips screws in the frame are wrong as is the straight screw in the pivot.
Also, just looks wrong after seeing real Emerson.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Could it be one of the Kershaw Emersons? I think those were Chinese made, 8Cr steel .
What I noticed immediately was the lack of a serial number under the thumb disk.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Some new pick-ups...
except I am the guy buying from the guy that bought them from the guy selling them...
I have been trying to buy some knives from a very nice guy that bought a knife collection from an estate sale and he is all over the map with his prices not knowing what to price them at and going all over the place some as high as he can go with eBay prices, after checking online. So, some prices are good some OK and some way too high (IMO)...
the problem is the ASKING prices online are not always the best indication of the true value. It is the "Sold Listings" that are a better indication of value (and of course above all CONDITON).
Lesson learned; don't be the 2nd guy to try and buy an estate sale.
Always be the 1st one.
