I finally scored some good toters at an antique mall. After some removal of surface rust and some oiling,
they came out pretty nice. All the blades are good and usable. ... All in all a good day for my collection.good work!

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Two estate sale finds yesterday.
The first one is a Western 691 Trapper. Sadly, someone adalterated it by removing the spey blade and made it a single blade and replaced the pins with brass ones. It will make a good 'projects' knife or it could very well become a POS candidate.
The second knife is an equal end EMPIRE, Winsted, Ct. Two pin cracks, but still intact. I know nothing about Empire knives and haven't researched them. It has seen some use, but still a nice little pocket knife. But for $10.00, I picked it up.
Comments welcome, negative or positive.

Good looking Kabar, Dog!
I just recently found my first Western at a flea market, LJ. Well made knives!
And that Empire is real nice. People are asking too much for them on EBay!

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
I think Zeus would approve of your new Ka-Bar!
The Western would make a good project. I'd send it off to a knife mechanic for some new pins, a patch, and maybe new bolsters. Its present configuration of a single clip appeals to me. You done good with both it and the Empire!

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thank you Kim, TMK, tvic and Dan for your comments.
As a matter of fact, Dan...I was PM'd about the Western from a AAPK member who did a trade with me. He's going to work it into his "project" list. I'm excited to see how it turns out. I'm very happy that someone can take a knife like this and 'beautify' it. It would have just sat in some drawer collecting dust...which would have been a shame I suppose. I'm glad it's going to a new home where it can be appreciated much more than I could have given it.
I won't divulge the name of the person, it's not my place. He can make it public if he so chooses.

Found these at a yard sale,I got there kind of late, but they were on a table with a bunch of junk piled up on top of them and I missed them the 1st time I walked through. If I had not gone back to look at some tools, I would have missed them.
