Looks good. That wide grained pine can be tough sometimes!

Still carving the little men. Got this Camillus 72 that had a broken tip on the main blade. Made a whittler out of it.

Good looking work!
Our local VFD got a new logo on their tee shirts with a peanut fireman. This used to be peanut country and we still have a peanut festival every year. I drew up a pattern and made a little peanut man out of an old 2x4 scrap.

That 72 is producing his own population.

Great looking little peanut fireman.

Awesome work! That turned out great.
Been doing a few more little carvings with the 72 and the seahorse. It's wheat harvest here in Michigan and these are easy to carry in my pocket and work on if I'm waiting for a truck.

Nice pics and carvings. I grew up farming, spent a lot of in JD4430 with a grain buggy waiting for the combine hopper to fill. We harvested wheat and oats in late may/ early June here in north Texas. By this time of year we would be gearing up to harvest milo.
Progress came in and the 1000 acres we farmed ended up as neighborhoods and apartments and Dad and Mom sold what acreage we had and moved to ranching.

Thanks. Even in my area farms are being sold and house's are going in every where. It's changed a lot since in 40 year's I've been out of school.C-WADE7 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 2:05 am Nice pics and carvings. Thanks Doglegg it's just part of the job but I do enjoy a little time to carve something simple. Can't really explain it but it helps relax and take my mind off things for a bit.

Re: Wood carving projects
C-WADE7 that beaver turned out great! Like the detail and colors.
Carved a little pumpkin. 1" x 1 1/4". It's starting to feel like fall a little early around here.
Carved almost 20 of the little men. I've got a few things in mind to add with some of them. One was a stalk of corn.
Trimmed up a tree in the yard so I had to make a couple rooster's out of the sticks.

That corn stock came out really good! I did a pumpkin last year but don’t remember if I posted it. I need to look back and see what I’ve forgot to post lately lol.
