My first rework since hand surgery
I have been trying to ease my hand back into knife work after the surgery. It is a slow process and is taking longer than I anticipated. I have been reworking some fixed blades. But this is the first slipjoint I have modified from start to finish since I had surgery. I don’t trust my hand yet to do too much detailed work on someone else’s knife (I hate to screw up a customers knife), so I started with a Camillus TL-29.
I took out the screwdriver blade, removed the bolsters and replaced them with long brass bolsters like a Barlow. I file worked the backspring and continued the pattern up onto the blade. I grooved the bolsters and filed the crown. The handle is dyed camel bone.
I need to get some good pics, but took these scans for now.
Your comments welcome.
Thanks,
Dale

Humm…
My apologies.
I am not sure how to shrink the pics down to a reasonable size.
Being that large sure shows up the flaws.

I think it looks great!!
I did not realize, however that the TL-29 was such a LARGE knife!
Glad to see your recovery has progressed to the point you are able to do excellent work once again.

Looks great Dale.....that sure makes it look like a different knife! Good job on the bolster work. Not too fancy, but just enough to dress it up without overdoing it. I like it!

don't look like it has affected your handiwork too much, like the crown job on the bolsters, sweet.
