First Cup Diner!
Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. Warn night last night and today is supposed to be the last warm day, and then back to normal or below normal and we may see frost by the weekend. My legs dictated a short day yesterday and lots of pain pills. Little better this morning. We are almost ready for paint and then trim and flooring. The next job is a partially collapsed roof repair on a pole building which sounds like a little beyond what I can do right now, but we'll see how it goes. not much else happening to report so I'm off to work. We haven't heard much, if anything from JPDave since he started looking for a job. Hope he's OK. Have a great Tuesday if there is such a thing.____Dave
Re: First Cup Diner!
Drinking coffee and watching the morning news, if I ignore the political and Taylor Swift stories, I'm left with a 104 year old Chicago woman who went skydiving. Take notice FCD patrons, you still have time to jump out of a plane!!
Ike
Re: First Cup Diner!
Sky diving no thanks. Local news bit, a couple in their 70’s rode the wooden roller coaster 1000 times this summer. I could do that. Anybody else?
Today is the last day of the summer temperatures, after 4 days in the 90’s. 80’s today then down the rest of the week.
Feeling better have a bit of a cold but life goes on. Back to work today after two weeks off. Will have to retrain myself !
Have a great day!

Re: First Cup Diner!
Hello everyone. 59 going to 88; partly cloudy.
Some years ago Bev did some skydiving. As I recall she first did some tandem jumps then progressed to solo.
A major drug boss in the Sinaloa cartel was accidentally killed by his own men when they mistook him for an enemy hitman. One of the men who made the blunder then shot himself rather than face the cartel's retribution. I only mention this as it was a rare bit of positive news.
Some new furniture gives the living room a relatively more open feel.
Reorganizing and cleaning remains the primary task of the day.
peace & health

Morning folks, 60 supposed to top out around 90, Leland is promising cooler temperatures by Friday.
Critters are fed, wampus said he didn't know what regards wuz but iff'in they are as good as friskies he'd eat them.
Boss is in the eye clinic as I hunt and peck regular checkup.
Planning on some fall cleanup and such iff'in it don't get to hot.
The only way I'd jump out of a plane was if the engines was on fire. I used to love the roller coasters but the way you get banged around I'd probably end up one big bruise. I've been down in my back for a week from sneezing too hard.
I've never found salmon around here too my liking, what I had in the Yukon and Alaska was delicious.
Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there.

Mornin' Y'all
Hump Day and back to the grind. Got the wife's car back. Tried to purchase a new cell phone, but that didn't pan out ...
Looking forward to a weekend off. Local syrup-sopping event taking place.
Pot is ready . . . next man in light the griddle, I'm outta matches

Going to a flea market this afternoon in hopes of finding a great knife at a reasonable price.
Fat Chance. I don’t have good luck, but I’m hopeful. Ya never know. Besides it’s something to do. And rarely you will find a gem among the garbage.
I have a gut feeling that today will be the day.

Morning again. 59 going to 86.
We were swarmed by a gang on Blue Jays yesterday.
Lots of trash to go out today. Trying to eliminate accumulated stuff. The amount is impressive.
Coffee tastes extra good this morning.
peace & health

Showers early, then cloudy in the afternoon. High 78º. There are 4 games today, all without a match up that interests me. Well maybe the Brewers & D-Backs, just to see the Brewers get whacked.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Morning Everyone.
Sky diving ! You all are fired up today . Spent 6 years jumping out of the belly of a plane . And a couple of years fast roping out of blackhawks. That’s a blast and easier on the knees . Would like to do some rappelling in the next few years . Back to this Wednesday, one more day at a site this week then a 2 day conference downtown . It’s a leadership ,team lead and elder seminar with a great keynote speaker Friday . Looking forward to serving our guests and taking part in some of the seminars.
Weather is going from hot and humid to possibly frost by end of the week. Will be digging out the long Johns, or woolies as some call them , and the Carharts . Windy as heck lately and heard will stay breezy thru the weekend.
More coffee is required this morning.
Boji. Hope you Get feeling better soon. Ike, super looking breakfast.
You all take care out there . Enjoy what you can .

Re: First Cup Diner!
Ike, your breakfast plate has me drooling.
Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. 80's yesterday, 60's today, 50's tomorrow and 40's on Friday with possible frost overnight. These are all highs with some rain mixed in on and off through Sunday. Kind of looks like my world is going downhill, or rather keeping on going downhill. Church tonight with a meal provided. Maybe that will help. It got warm in the house last night and that kept me from sleeping well. I pulled the outside breaker for the AC unit last week thinking we were done with AC for the season but needed it last night but not enough to get dressed and go turn it back on. I got about half of the primer coat on the house we are building yesterday while Jason and Megan finished up taping. By tonight we are hoping to have the house ready for the homeowners to come in and paint the rooms their colors of choice. Doors, cabinets and trim are on order and flooring soon will be. Ripster, I did enough of trying not to do that kind of stuff off of roofs to not want to do it on purpose and only failed a couple times. Gotta run. Have a great Wednesday.____Dave
Re: First Cup Diner!
The 2nd summer is over. Yesterday afternoon temp dropped and light rain off and on all evening. Today high in the 60’s
That’s normal this time of the year.
No big plans today, couple of pkgs to mail and a check to deposit. And the to do list around home.
Feeling better but still tired. I foresee a nap this afternoon.

Good Mornin', Folks.
We slept late this morning, going to doctor appointments seem to tire us more than a normal day working around home. I suppose it's the travelling and the fact that our normal schedule is upside down, some of us old folks don't like change!
Miss Boji, I suppose I could ride the rollercoaster, but we'd never have enough free time for 1000 laps!
60 was the low this morning, 92 yesterday's high, supposed to be cooler by the weekend.
Coffee is about to be enjoyed.
Y'all have a wonderful day!

Re: First Cup Diner!
My C-Pap machine died an untimely death this past weekend. Nothin'. Just like you'd pulled the plug out of the receptacle. I can't sleep without that machine helping me to breath, sooooooo, I broke out the old one and will use it until the VA fixes the dead one or gives me a new one. Was gonna send the dead one to VA in Madison, WI. Well of course, that's not the way they do things. I have to take the dead one up to Madison and they will try to fix it or will give me a new one if they can't fix it. That's in a couple of weeks on the 18th. Geez Louise.
Supposed to get a little damp sometime today.
Otherwise it's not half bad out there.

Good day to all. Nothing to report here. Just that it's 71 degrees, and expected to rise to 74 before sinking to 58. I'm kinda looking forward to cooler weather. Seems I got a good night's sleep, too. Hope everyone is well, and see you again soon!

Morning everyone. 63 degrees now and Ia high of 80. Thanks for opening up Dan.
Forums have been a bit slow lately. Well, slower than usual anyway.
Pressure washing the house later, otherwise nothing planned. Took my dog on a 3.5 mile hike yesterday morning . She’s wanting to go again, but it won’t be today. Dogs have way more energy than people.
Y’all have a great day. Ciao.

63 going to 78, mostly cloudy with possible rain.
Commander, the Biden's biting dog has been removed from the White House. No doubt a relief to the Secret Service. Also, Biden or whoever makes decisions has authorized the building of a border wall in Texas.
A few Brown Thrashers have been passing thru.
An extra portion of leg pain today due to bursitis.
Hope JP Dave will make it back to the diner once things get settled for him.
peace & health
