New USA Queen?

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Just for curiosity Ken I have a double lockback MM with CS over USA. What would the CS mean?
I'm not trying to speak for Ken but my guess would that the "CS" stands for carbon steel.

Thanks Ken, as a matter of fact, I believe this Moore Maker (my EDC today) was made by Queen back in the olden times. ( ::hmm:: somehow it ALL ties in together). I like Moore Maker because it is a "Texas" knife ( ::paranoid:: so to speak ::paranoid:: )... ::skeptic::
I called More Maker some years ago around 2004 or 2005 and asked about a knife I had purchased. The lady I spoke to couldn't tell me who made the exact knife I had but she did tell me that they had knives made by Queen, Utica, Camillus, and Bear & Son. I think there were a couple more but memory fails me. I should have written it down so I could forget where I wrote it. ::rotflol::

Pretty sure it’s CS for Canal Street. When Canal Street was in business they made several patterns for Moore Maker. One of the most unmistakable was the ”football” pattern. The Moore’s are going to stick with “Made in USA” if they can, which is why you see Utica, Bear, Case, etc making their knives. Previous lineup included Queen and Canal Street.

Ken, that’s a very unusual and cool knife. Never saw a “football” knife before.

Here is the Queen... Taking it out for photos, I like the stag a lot better than when I first saw it. I really like this knife. You can see the high ridge of the liner lock. I did not like that at first. but.... it locks the blade in tight and serves as a sort of finger guard to protect your hand from running up the blade.

Looks good GSP. From the looks of it if it's made by B&S it's some of their better work.

FWIW, I believe that the new Queen knives from SMKW are made by Utica, not B&S. I say that because they look like the knives that Utica has in the past made on contract for Moore Maker. At least the two patterns that I have seen.

True, Knifeaholic, it is all speculation at this point.
But speculating os a lot of fun, too!
I am glad to see some of their knives made in the USA, no matter which manufacturer is producing them.

Reverend,
I agree that it doesn’t matter who made it but great that it’s made in America. I only wish they picked a new name. I don’t like when a company tries to capitalize on the name of another company that no longer exists. Not a big deal, just a quirk I have. The way I see it, there’s only one Queen knives and always will be. I’m glad though that at least it’s a quality knife. It would be so wrong if it was poorly made and wore the Queen name and logo.

I will have to say that Utica made it, as the oversize linerlock is a tell-tale characteristic of their Large Trapper.

If so, I'm hoping that Utica's Barlow is brought back for the line.

Sasquach, I ordered a new Queen and a B&S in the same order from online and when looking at the black cloth case they both came in... looks the same!!! ::uc:: I would say that is a nice piece of evidence for the argument that B&S is making the new Queens.... ::hmm::

So now the question is if Bear & son is able to find beautiful stag like that why is Case not producing stag handled knives? Case is rapidly fading as the central focus of my collection. :( The selection of American cutlers making traditional pocket knives is dwindling but these new "Queen" knives are a breath of fresh air. I ordered one of the jumbo trappers since all of the reviews from fellow collectors have been very good.

I think you will be very happy with it Sasquach. ::tu:: As far as Case .... :x ::td:: I ordered a Case Purple Bone stockman... It looked great, great bones .... then when inspecting the blades... the sheep's hoof blade is bent and set too far over and won't close w/o pushing on it and the main blade won't close as well w/o pushing the sheep's hoof blade over. The main blade is rubbed by the sheep's hoof blade :x So I will be looking at making a return... a brand-new knife should not have been shiped from the factory like this! ::td::

Sorry to hear of your Case issues GSP but they are becoming more frequent these days.

This one arrived today. Man this is a handful of knife! The fit and finish is almost perfect (I have a couple of very minor flaws in the finish work). Alagator snap on both blades, solid half stops, and solid lock up on the master blade with no play in either blade. The stag is really nice, looks to be toasted. This is not a pocket carry though! Too large and heavy so it is definitely a candidate for a belt pouch. Overall, a very well made and beautiful knife. ::nod::

Thanks GSP.

I have a leather pouch/sheath that a friend made for me years ago to fit a large folder I have. The Queen fits in it perfectly.

I bought 2 of each of these for $100, yes that's 4 knives for $100.
They are all seconds. I believe they are made by Bear and Sons.
Check out the way they are marked as seconds. Very creative!

I just picked up a Green Bone version. I like it... ::paranoid:: ..... Actually, I love this Queen Cutlery Green Jigged Bone 2-Blade Folder! It has a feeling of quality to it when I hold it my hand. Sold lock up, no blade movement. Best of all, as a longtime admirer of bone scales, the green bone feels like heaven to my fingers, :D

I just came across this post. I usually go to the Bear knife sale in Nov. but have not been in a few years. I'm planning on going this year and I will be able to let you guys know as they will sell the "overruns" there They do make Moore Maker knives there and they usually have to grind tang but I have bought quite a few Moore maker knives from Bear with stamp. The CS on the blade is there Carbon steel stamp they do on the Moore maker knives and Bear carbon knives, so I'm pretty sure they make them. I was just looking at the Queens I thought that looks like Bear and how I found this post.
