Boy's knife based on Sheffield souvenir knife pattern

Post by ashwinearl »

I rebuilt this knife from a one I'd abandoned few months ago. Single bolster boy's knife with some threading. Iron wood, 8670 carbon steel. SS liners, shield.

That's a mighty handsome knife! ::tu::
The video showing the blade being pushed open from the half stop position with a thumb against the edge is kinda spooky. ::hmm::

The original had been completed and fully sharpened. When I decided to take it apart and redo some parts I tried to dull the knife up with a file. I didn't do the best job. In the video you can seem me check it a little before pressuring it. On a knife from scratch it usually isn't a problem IF I do my grinding correct and there is still some thickness at the edge.

There is keen edge on there now so I won't be doing that move again on this knife.
