Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Not too recently, this pocket knife arrived in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my latest example to join this topic or thread. I'll keep it around for the time being. I did not buy the group or lot for this particular pocket knife. It is a CAMILLUS, two blades, two tools (a cap lifter or bottle opener, a can opener), one tang stamp (three line), 3 5/8" closed (not including the bail), camping or scouting, pattern or style of pocket knife. The tang stamp reads "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The two blades and the two tools all have a crisp opening and closing snap. Obviously, this pocket knife is missing its handles or scales. Also, there is a very tiny nick in the secondary blade. Other than that, this pocket knife is still in VERY GOOD condition, with a lot of life left in it. It did need some very light cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

If any of you pocket knife restoration types are interested in this pocket knife, PM me and we can arrange something.
I have absolutely no interest in restoring it. Perhaps you do. A nice, good looking pair of handles or scales, will go a
long way and you will have yourself a nice, good looking, vintage, CAMILLUS camping or scouting pocket knife.

A couple of weeks ago, my trip to the post office produced this advertising pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also becomes the latest example to be added to my collection. It is a CAMILLUS 72, three blades, two tang stamps, two blade stamps, two bolster etches, 3 5/8" closed, swelled center, a long matchstrike and blade pull, two springs, advertising, "whittler" pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp (double line) says, "CAMILLUS (over) New York (over) U.S.A." The main blade back tang stamp says "72", the pattern number. The main blade front stamp says, "Chattanooga Coca-Cola" The third blade back stamp says, "World's First - Coca-Cola Bottler" The left front bolster etch is "040" The right front bolster etch is "1992" The main handle side says "Coca-Cola" The main blade has no half stop, but it does have a good opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has a weak half stop, but it has a good opening and closing snap. The third blade has a good half stop, along with a good opening and closing snap. This pocket knife came with a box and paperwork. I do not know if this is the box and or the paperwork that this pocket knife originally came with. This pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. This pocket knife did NOT need any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

***** EDIT *****
I have REMOVED that dark strip on the bolster near the scale.
You can plainly see it in pictures #2 and #7, posted below.

A few days ago, my visit to the post office produced this Coca-Cola pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also becomes the latest example to be added to my collection. It is a CAMILLUS 712, four blades, four tang stamps, one blade stamp, one bolster etch, 3 1/2" closed, two springs, advertising, pocket knife. The main blade (wonda edge) front tang stamp (double line) says, "CAMILLUS (over) New York (over) U.S.A." The main blade (wonda edge) back tang stamp says "712", the pattern number. The third blade front tang stamp (double line) says, "CAMILLUS (over) New York (over) U.S.A." The third blade back tang stamp (double line) says "712", the pattern number. The main blade (wonda edge) front stamp says, "WORLD'S FIRST 1993 Coca-Cola BOTTLER" The right front bolster has "063" etched on it. The main handle side says "Coca-Cola" The other handle side says "CHATTANOOGA Coca-Cola" The main blade (wonda edge) has a weak half stop, but it does have a good opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has a soft half stop, but it has a good opening and closing snap. The third blade has a soft half stop, but a good opening and closing snap. The fourth blade has a soft half stop, but it has a good opening and closing snap. This pocket knife came with a box and paperwork. I don't know if this is the box and or the paperwork that this pocket knife originally came with. This pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. I did NOT clean it at all, just wiped it off. Are both blades stamped with the Camillus 4 line stamp? Can’t make out the one stamp in the picture.

Both blades are stamped .the stamps are light. and difficult to see .U.S.A. Is either faded or under the bolster .with N.Y. Visible I think the tang is from the 4 line stamping .It is the only stamp with N.Y. abbreviated with punctuation marks.

Secondary blade. Pile side
Secondary blade. Pile side
. The price paid for buffing .I like to leave them alone if possible .sometimes it unavoidable to get a knife that will function properly .

I've had some good luck lately with finding some good old Camillus.... Blades are tight and full, I'm happy with this one! ::nod:: ... ::hmm:: This one is going right into the EDC rotation... after a little clean up and oil...

This tang stamp was used by Camillus from the later 1970s into the 1980s.
