Great group Scott, it is nice to see young boys out camping and learning outdoor skills. We missed winter camp this year with our troop but are going this next month for a weekend outing.

It's always good to see pictures of Scott and his outdoor activities with the youngsters! I noticed the "guns" on that young man in the 5th picture! Is that one of your grandsons, Scott? I believe I remember fishing pictures when they were little "shavers" and y'all were bass fishing.

I've not posted many pictures from my game cameras lately, no excuse. Can't say I'm too busy because I'm retired. Just sorry I guess. ::shrug::
Since hunting season has started I've enjoyed consistently watching more deer in our food plot and in the remaining planted pines than I've ever seen before, just no shooter bucks. The number varies, sometimes 3, 6, 8, up to 14 at one time. This afternoon there were 6 feeding in the oats and one old doe at the feeder. I noticed a deer walking along edge of the pines and the canal and when I put the binoculars on it, it was a buck. He wandered through the pines and I lost sight of him. The old doe at the feeder took off running and I knew he was close to the feeder. He finally showed up and ran after the doe. She went to the edge of the woods and he slowed down and stopped, I suppose to look at all the deer in the oat patch. The .243 did its' job! I had never seen this deer on camera, turned out to be a nice 6 point with one small brow tine. The bucks on camera have been full 8 points, along with a bunch of different shaped spikes and a 4 point. Wherever he came from or if he's been here all along, I thankful he and I met this afternoon. :)

Great event Scott, you have loyally stuck with that group of young men for a long time now - its good work you are doing.

Phil, that is one nice buck - congratulations!

Thanks for the comments, fellers. ::handshake::
Due to the forecasted rain, I had to break him down and put him in the cooler, we've had some excellent weather for hanging a deer. Will finish ageing the meat in the cooler for a about a week.
Boned out 2 small deer for the preacher this morning, ready for grinding all except the backstraps.
Weather here at Starvation Plantation has been nasty all day started out around daylight at 39, rain started mid-morning, got up to 48. Nothing compared to what our northern friends experience, but still pretty nasty to us.

Wow Phillip,
I can almost taste the butterfly steaks and backstrap gravy on homemade biscuits! Nice little buck! ::tu:: ::tu::

Scott,
Those boys certainly have grown up! Always great to see pictures of your outings. Young boys need an adult male role model, of that I am convinced. Nothing against mothers, they are absolutely necessity! But the role of a father figure has been so downplayed in our society that many boys are left without a male role model. I have no doubt that some of those boys you work with don't have a father involved in their life. It's awesome that you step in and provide them with a good male role model! Major props!

Seeing those pics brings back a lot of good memories of my years as a Boy Scout and all the valuable skills I learned. One can't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude to the selfless and dedicated leaders who volunteered their time and shared their knowledge to the younger generations. How else would the youth ever learn these important lessons of self-sufficiency and survival in today's world where practically every aspect of life is influenced and/or controlled by electronics?

Kudos to you, Scott and the other adult leaders working with you. Much respect, gratitude and admiration for your service. ::tu:: It's impossible to overstate the value and effect your work has on those boys' lives, both now and far into the future. ::handshake::
