I had gotten into the muzzleloader group and made these

primitive friction folders. Two are elk antler handles And fancied up the third with checkered ebony and a bit of engraving. Made from 01 steel.

Do you have any resources for learning how to do that kind of checkering? Any tutorials, video links, etc. I do have a Grobett's checkering file that I use for jimping on spines, but have wanted to learn the kind of checkering you did here.

Not really, sort of self taught. I use dembart checking tools. Practice a bit on scrap wood. I think there is some information on the university of utube.
Establish the correct angle for the intersecting lines. Use a spacer cutter to establish the next line. Then the lines are deepened until you get nice pointed diamonds. Looks harder than it actually is. Thanks for the interest.
