KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY

Saturday is always interesting when the flea market is open & today was no exception. One of the vendors who sells knives has a box of knives marked $5 & periodically he re-stocks it.
Today I found a couple interesting items. A Case 282-5 steak knife; a Wusthof Gladiator utility(S.A.K. style) advertising Kaufman Ulm; a no-name assisted opener; and the prize: a Spyderco Delica(Seki City) in a pouch that has never seen a stone.
Total cost: 15 bux.

... Looks like I'm going to have to pick up the slack for 'Ol Scott this weekend .... seeing as he usually does the "heavy lifting" on this here thread.

I don't know if I got lucky today or I just got dumber? (more knives in my house ) .... ..... but for my 1st purchase I bought a "Bag-O'-Broken knives" today at an "Up-scale" (i.e. expensive) once a month Sunday flea market.... ... well, it turned out not all the knives were broken .... there was even a 3-Line Camillus #27 (29) in there ... and then after that... I really started wheeling and dealing.... I stopped going to that flea market months ago because I could never find any knives and the ones I found were way over priced.

Well, I only went today because my dog was bouncing off the wall wanting to get out of the house.

TopDog, that is quite a load! The military knife/bayonet with the bakelite scabbard catches my eye. Know what you saying about the other pickers ... nothing worse than someone horning in the middle of business negotiations.

What a great score for you, Dog, congratulations!
I spotted quite a few solid looking useable pieces in there, as well as some "fun" knives for you to "play" with to keep your self entertained.
It sounds like that Flea Market is considering themselves as being a retail store with their higher prices, since most F/M items are traditionally going for maybe 15% of their original value or many with "off the top of their head after they've sized you up" quotes.
Might be time to start looking for a different Flea Market.

Thanks Cx3! The bayonet is a replica bayonet for the legendary M1 Garand rifle, but still a pretty cool find.

I always go by the #1 rule for pickers: NEVER interfere/get up in another picker's 'biddness when he is working a on a deal with a seller

Thanks M&M , I have been working on cleaning some of them up and a few of the rustiest ones are already in a vinegar tub soaking away. One of the better scores was a Kutmaster Stockman in great shape, except for the very end/tip of the main blade busted off, but that can be reprofiled on a belt grinder w/o much loss in OAL. .... If I was you I would just bust the entire blade off.... and then bust off the spey blade and then I would have a one bladed knife.... perfect for an M&M collector's piece!

Thanks TopDog ... amazing what bayonets sell for now, even a replica. on the #1 rule. Buying knives is like buying jewelry ... gotta be able to find the gem and negotiate a fair price with the jeweler. Anxious butter-in-ers don't seem to understand this.

You said Cx3 many YEARS I SOLD OFF A BUNCH OF bayonets and now I can't replace them for anything close to what I sold them for....
