D-Day 80th Anniversary

Welcome to AAPK's Veteran’s Forum. This is a place where veterans can meet, get to know one another better, perhaps swap a story or two, and share any recent information that they have acquired from the Veterans Administration, DoD and Veterans Service Organizations, including but not limited to, DAV, AMVETS, VFW, American Legion, PVA, and MOPH. Another good source of information are branch specific organizations.
We will have a voluntary CHECKING IN topic where you can introduce yourself, years serve and branch or branches of service. Welcome Aboard!

D-Day 80th Anniversary

Post by Ridgegrass »

The "beginning of the end" 80 years ago today. Probably the greatest display of mass bravery and commitment in the history of warfare.
We went to a Memorial Day tribute last week and saw a 99 year-old, D-Day vet who comes in his wheelchair each year. Last year I got to shake his old hand and he still had a proud and firm grip. What a rush of emotions. I pray that we have a generation that can come even close to the guts and dedication of those from the "Greatest Generation". J.O'.
