J.O'. I have a similar (except for same add. logo) Colonial Barlow, also made for a US company with a logo. It has a good "U.S.A. quality" feel to it. I got it to flip in a trade/sell, but after holding a bit I said to myself the as you did; "I'll keep it as a sad reminder of a once important, American knife giant."Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 9:16 pm Bought this Colonial today, unopened, in the box, and wrapped in the original plastic. It says, "Prov.USA" and I'm hoping it is indeed made here. The quality is not especially good, could be the last gasp of the company. It's absolutely mint and I'll keep it as a sad reminder of a once important, American knife giant. J.O'.

Thanks Dog, don't mean to run it down. It's "OK" but just "OK".

That's not Number one though! Haven't seen Number one in a while. Can you post a picture of her?

Was actually thinking of the #1 just the other day. Next week I'll be sure to tote some red bone and get pictures.

Don’t know if anyone is interested, but I thought I would share that the Boker+ jigged bone Barlow (made in Asia) that normally sells for $30-$45 can now be bought directly from Boker for $14.95 + tax and shipping. By all reviews this is a knife that, though Asian in origin, lives up to Boker standards.

It seems this interesting Barlow thread has died...been killed? To quote one Steven Q. Urkel, "Did I do that?"

Thanks! I ordered a couple. Tried to resist but just couldn’t with those sale prices!Gtrclktr-351 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 9:41 am Don’t know if anyone is interested, but I thought I would share that the Boker+ jigged bone Barlow (made in Asia) that normally sells for $30-$45 can now be bought directly from Boker for $14.95 + tax and shipping. I understand completely. $31.00 was the cheapest I had ever seen that Barlow.

That is a heck of a deal. My understanding is that all Boker knives carry a lifetime warranty no matter where they were made. I know Boker Plus has some really nice knives.

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them

No response to my post didn't worry me as much as the lack of posts of more sweet Barlows.
I thought my "advertising"(though really just trying to share a good deal)post may have been off-putting. Seems my "fears" were unfounded

Boker Plus Barlow 01BO493
Overall Length: 5.83 inches
Blade Length: 2.4 inches
Blade Thickness: 0.08 inches
Weight: 2.79 ounces
Blade Material: 440C
Handle Material:Jigged Bone
MSRP: $45.95 Fit, and finish, is very nice. No gapping between the nickel silver bolsters and nicely jigged bone scales, nor between the stainless steel liners, spacer and back springs. Blade pull is a solid six with nice snap opening and closing; and blades are sharp out of the box. The center pin on the show side is a tiny bit proud and the knife doesn’t have half stops. The specs show the knife being made in Asia, but the box states, “Designed in Germany - Made in PRC”. All in all this is one nice Barlow.

That's a beauty, GC. I assume PRC is Peoples Republic of China. They've only been making blades for a few thousand years, so I think they know what they're doing!Gtrclktr-351 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 12:30 am Boker Plus Barlow 01BO493

Gt 351those are some pretties. Congrats.
Never seen a GEC #78 Barlow before and I like it. Sawcut paper micarta they call Richlite. I really like the bolster and the spring terminus maximus on the pen blade side.

Quite a fine knife, Iman. A little factoid here. Gibson Guitars used Richlite for fingerboards on some of their guitars..
