My dad actually found these two beautiful knives. I was looking last night and stumbled across them.

Those are fine-looking Rimingtons! Is there a pattern number either one?
The bone on the one with the punch really got my attention!

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
From what I can tell from 6th Edition Sargent. And because dad check off some of what he had, as you can see from the pictures I have attached now.
To answer the # question I could not see a Remington Tang Number on either.
1st Knife single blade from what I can tell is a R3943 sleeveboard Rogers bone. Page 454. My dad has a Check mark by the R3943 sleeveboard brown bone also. This is a 2 blade knife but I have not come across it.
2nd knife is a R373 Equal end Jack Bone. Page 426.

That being said, I am in no way an expert, so I am hoping to learn about this knife from someone more knowledgeable than the humble contributor that I am. I attached some Viking designs for comparison, as well as contrast of the handle design of a traditional puukko in the attached picture.
It really is a great piece, with wonderful pictures, great posting J.O'.

I know nothing about Puko's, J.O'., but from all the fancy engraving I get a definite authentic vibe.
As it was said, that is the nicest Puko I've seen. Congratulations on finding that beauty.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thanks all on the Puukko. I was hesitant because it was unmarked. It is a beauty but there's so much "fluff" out there and Puukkos are not my area of collecting. At $40 any bad news won't be to hard a lesso. Keeping fingers crossed. J.O'.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Found at an antique show today; a very nice vintage cigar cutter/box opener, a Western, Boulder P28A in Yellow (In 25 years collecting Westerns, this is the first and only yellow one I've ever seen), a horn handled IXL Wostenholm in excellent shape, and a Case Tested 6165 with the bomb shell shield. Even though it has been repined and has a small center rivet chip, for $50 I wasn't walking away from it. It does have the correct blade and fits perfectly I'm assuming the original pin just needed replacing and someone did it in steel._____Dave

I'll agree with David, "Excellent finds Dave!" but at that we'll part ways, the Old Case 6165 is the one that rings my bell!djknife13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 8:41 pm Found at an antique show today; a very nice vintage cigar cutter/box opener, a Western, Boulder P28A in Yellow (In 25 years collecting Westerns, this is the first and only yellow one I've ever seen), a horn handled IXL Wostenholm in excellent shape, and a Case Tested 6165 with the bomb shell shield. That Western is great. What is the handle made of? Possibly marblett?djknife13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 8:41 pm Found at an antique show today; a very nice vintage cigar cutter/box opener, a Western, Boulder P28A in Yellow (In 25 years collecting Westerns, this is the first and only yellow one I've ever seen), a horn handled IXL Wostenholm in excellent shape, and a Case Tested 6165 with the bomb shell shield. I am far from an expert, and authenticating the puukko is way above my pay grade. But, IMHO, if not authentic it is the work of a very talented “forger”. It is a beautiful piece.Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 7:27 pm Any body want to comment on the authenticity of this Puko? It bears no mark. Thanks, J.O'.
