Man is that gorgeous. The blades, the bolsters, the antler, swell center, the condition. Absolutely beautiful in every way. Five thumbs up.Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 11:18 pm Don't know how I missed this thread til now ... but found it!

Harold, those are questions I also have. Not much to be found about it online. It is a very well built knife. Could be rehandled, don't know.stockman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 1:29 pmWho made the knife and how old is it.Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 11:18 pm Don't know how I missed this thread til now ... but found it!

Thanks
Harold
Thanks Mark, never thought of it being made by Tak Fukuta. The bolster does have the Tak look like on the Marbles Bench Made Knives. I did know about the Dolphin. No wonder this one caught my eye!Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:58 pm Nice Boot Hill knife Tony. That is first time I’ve seen that one in stag. I’m fairly certain that these were made in Japan by Master Tak Fukuta. He also made the Kabar Dolphin and you can see similarities in the bolsters. I could be wrong about that, I know I couldn’t find anywhere where the manufacturer of these was confirmed when I sold that one you linked, otherwise I would have included that in the description.
Not convinced yet Tony that Queen made this. I saw information posted about the Kabar Dolphin that was incorrectly attributed to Queen. Bill Howard confirmed that Queen did NOT make the Dolphin and he thought it looked Japanese. Sometimes folks assume a manufacturer that isn’t always correct. The Worthpoint doesn’t mention who made it either. Just about every Queen made Kabar I’ve seen has a double in the Queen world, but this one doesn’t so it makes me suspect that it might not be Queen that made it, but who knows for sure?Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 8:16 pm UPDATE: More info on the Kabar Boot Hill here on AAPK:

According to this thread, it was made by Queen for the Kabar Collector's Club (KCC).
And from Worthpoint:
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ ... cket-knife (Only 711 made in 1988)
That's enough info to convince me it wasn't rehandled.
Harold, thanks for the questions ... got me digging deeper!![]()

Interesting that I have not seen a stag version of that Boot Hill, maybe I have and just forgot.

That’s an obvious tell. I’m pretty sure those were all made by Tak Fukuta. Hope this helps.Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 9:53 pmSharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 8:38 pmNot convinced yet Tony that Queen made this. Interesting that I have not seen a stag version of that Boot Hill, maybe I have and just forgot.on not being convinced Mark. You guys know more than I, and I glean much info from this forum. When you mentioned the Dolphin was incorrectly attributed to Queen, it sparked a memory of reading that very thing. I can't remember where though. What do you think about the bolster looking like a Marbles bench made Tak knife? Hey, you know I would be thrilled if I had another Seki made! Thanks Mark

You are welcomeSharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:31 pm Thanks TMK and TopDog. The barlow is my favorite also.
Goes to show that Henckels required a higher standard than Boker used on their own knives. Much like Queen compared to Shatt and Morgan.GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 12:08 amYou are welcomeSharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:31 pm Thanks TMK and TopDog. Not as "bold" or "dynamic" as your group there. Very beautiful indeed!
