Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Nice catch Floyd. That's a pretty good example and every collector with a discipline doesn't have etches on all their knives.👍👍

I love it when I find a 72 varient that I have been looking for. Even better when I find one that I was unaware of. This one is of the later type. Tom, in selling his fabulous Scout collection offered this one. A 1047 with a shackle. It came today ::ds::
and is a wonderful knife in super condition. Thank you Tom ::handshake:: . Check out his store. Cosgrove Cultery

A couple of days ago, my trip to the post office produced this CAMILLUS 72, variation or wannabe, pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also became the latest example to be added to my collection. It is a CAMILLUS 5, three blades, two tang stamps, 3 5/8" closed, swelled center, a long main blade pull, two springs, "whittler" pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp (double line) says, "CAMILLUS (over) New York (over) U.S.A." The main blade back tang stamp says, "5", the pattern number. It is simply because it is stamped "5" that I consider this CAMILLUS "5" pocket knife just as much a CAMILLUS "72" variation as the CAMILLUS "72Y", the CAMILLUS "80" and the CAMILLUS "1047" The main blade does have a SOFT half stop. The main blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The main blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade does have a SOFT half stop. The secondary blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The secondary blade does have a VERY GOOD closing snap. The third blade does have a SOFT half stop. The third blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The third blade does NOT have a closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. I did have to give the bolsters a little bit of a cleaning. YES!, it is legitimate and it is in the 2003 Camillus catalog (see the very last picture). I took some pictures and here it is.
Caption(s), if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding picture(s).
