Pro chefs will tell you that you shouldn't put your finger on the spine of the blade when cutting or chopping.

In order to fit a bunch of old cushions in the garbage can had to do some ripping. Just grabbed these random folders and a BK-9 to see how they perform on some fabric, nylon batting and styrofoam. The BK-9 blew them all away. Not really a fair comparrison I know. Notables were Schrade 8 OT sheep foot. Schrade 175 sheep foot did well. Moki Gory did well. Benchmade Weekender blade did well, Benchmade Mini Bugout blade did not. Ben Hogan and Case Mini Trapper were pretty good. S&M sheep foot whittler was disappointing, as was the Artisan Cutlery Cazador and the GEC Plainsman with the bullnose drop point. Just seeing how they would do in some real world cutting. YRMV. L2Right: S&M, Moki, Case, GEC, GEC, Schrade, Schrade, Artisan, Benchmade, Benchmade.

I put two of my “heavy duty” EDC knives through “hard times” today.
I opened the daily mail. And I opened my new exercise band and ankle weights boxes. Home rehab to supplement PT for 2 total knee replacements. The first on 1/16/24 and the second on 4/30/24.

lets see. sliced up some sausage & onion, split a couple of english muffins (I know that's supposed to be done with a fork. Who ever thought that was a good idea?) opened a bag of cat food, opened a bag of cat litter, sliced some New York extra sharp cheese, cut up and cored a Bartlet pare, and cleaned the dottle out of my pipe half a dozen times or more, but the night is still young.
don't have a picture posting a photo with me is hit or miss anyway. Queen Country Cousin, made in 76. I suspect the last knife made before the long Bicentennial 4th of July weekend. Handle is cracked, well split in half and lose, little Super glue fixed that, blades not centered, Oh NO still my beating heart, when fully open the blade has a downward cant of about 15 degrees. Still going strong after all these years and has yet to fail me leaving me to die cold, hungry and alone. But it's just my inside knife so it don't get the workout like my Western 854 dose.

Finally figured out a use for the can opener on a camp knife. Works really great to pry up the most stubborn of Lego tiles.
Just kidding, it's useful for all sorts of things. But now you know about this one too

I saw that tattoo and said to myself, "Run to the hills
Run for your lives'' Then I thought; "Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know, don't you know?"

Hauling stuff on my trailer and tying things down, then cutting rope and then I had to loosen it up so I can save some of and cut less of it .... ... ... ... if any of that makes sense

Goodness, Scott. You're actually using an AAPK knife! I thought those were supposed to stay in the paper tubes?
