Beautiful CKs all!
Those Blackjacks made in Japan were awesome knives back in the day and now they look even better ::nod:: all these years latter. .... ... ::hmm:: I remember coveting the Blackjack Black Mamba, and one day I finally got one :D .... then years latter .... ::facepalm:: ::doh:: I sold it .... ::dang:: ...😪😥😥😥
I was the opposite TopDog. After being interested in knives in my teen years, I lost interest in my 20s-40s due to a riotous lifestyle mentioned a couple posts ago. I missed out on a lot, including knife collecting. These knives do cost a lot more now than they did then, but when you compare the price of quality knives with them, I think they are a good value today, and are fine quality. :wink:

Comfort.... ::hmm::

I love this Bear & Son 4in Genuine India Stag Bone Sheepsfoot Barlow. Their Sheepsfoot Barlow has become my favorite Bear & Son pattern and I have been trying to collect them all. But don't be fooled by the good looks of this knife, it is a user! It has a very solid strong blade and locks up tight. I think they have done a great job producing this Barlow ::nod::

What a cool knife! I thought you'd been posting some nice knives lately, Dog, but damn, this knife today is in a class of it's own.
Your knife looks fine as it is, but I'm imagining it with a small bolster/pommel and it really spices it up. Great knife, buddy! ::handshake::

I likes that Barlow TopDog! Looked up the price ... $50.99 at SMKW currently ... excellent value for a USA made Stag knife!

I’m a Bear & Son fan, too, Topdog! The last couple of knives I’ve gotten from them are superb quality! I think I posted a pic of the one I got from their Bonfire series. A darned good looking knife, too! You got a beauty there, my friend! ::tu:: ::nod::

:D Thanks T!!! ::handshake:: Where did you post the Bonfire series one, I think I missed it. I just got a new arrival yesterday, but I have not posted it yet, it is a Bear & Son Red Stag Two-Blade Barlow and (I just checked for you... looks to be sold out ...😥😥😥) ... I am pretty happy with what I have got from them lately. I think Bear & Son represent a good value. Of course, I would always prefer to buy USA made any day (when they make a good product) ::nod::

I'll say it again, Dog, you have been posting some fabulous knives lately, and today's Barlow is not an exception! Those covers are simply outstanding, and that shield is perfect!
You are helping to make this thread a very comfortable place to hang-out at, buddy, thanks! ::handshake::

In fact, I'm posting this knife that's been making me comfortable for a week now, since I've been examining, fondling, opening/closing it, all the while thinking about it's true origins, when I really should be posting from my still existent back-log of pictures of new acquisitions. I posted it when it first came to me about 2 yrs. ago, and it was described as one of the RPK's/Russian Prison Knives, although, it is so well made to precision specs I have to assume it was made after the maker was released, when he would have had access to better tools and materials but brought his prison skills home with him. It's a rock solid knife, and IMO made for one reason and one reason alone, assassination. For any that recall my previous posting of this knife, you might remember it's very unique blade release system which entails a sliding bracket that holds and releases the tip of the blade, dependant on which position the firing trigger is sitting, open or closed. It has plenty of weight to keep me happy, and the needle-point blade is dull on both edges.
The action is crisp and silent hence the assassin theory, and it's fit and finish is precise in every way.

I was choosing my C.K. for the day one day last week and I came across this beauty, and it's been beside me ever since. This favorite of mine is 11" of SS and ABS, and one that I won't tire of any time soon!

Yes sir, it's a pretty angry knife, Garry. When I posted it originally you commented that you didn't much care for it since it's one and only purpose is for killing people, and it appears that hasn't changed. Nothing wrong with having that opinion I have it myself, to each his own, but that's where I got the assassin theory cuz it made so much sense, and that hasn't changed either.
If this knife has a saving grace, it's that it's so big you would see it coming a mile away, so please don't do any passing out! lol!
Thanks for commenting, buddy! ::handshake::

What and how you described pulling out your Barlow while relaxing in bed is EXACTLY the feelings and reason I called this thread "Comfort Knives" all those pages ago..."rub the bone scales between my thumb and fingers"... ! Originally, and perhaps even now, some folks didn't get the idea of a comfort knife, but as time goes by it seems more and more guys are warming up to the concept. I have always found it quite simple actually, anything that brings on a warm and fuzzy feeling in one is bringing them comfort, so why not my knives. ::shrug:: You also solved the mystery of why you are so full of knowledge, buddy, it's because you read, and actual books ta boot, good for you! ::handshake::

Although I've been attempting to cut way down on my knife buying, "cut way down" is not "cut out totally", and the result is this beautiful knife! This is one I've coveted since first viewing long ago, and although these are few and far between to find, I spotted this one. Others I have seen when one does come up for sale have prices beginning around $400. and increasing to as much as $900. for custom work models, so when I saw this gently used copy for around 1/4 of those costs it was a no-brainer. I was actually a bit suspicious of the price since any others were far higher, so I really did my due diligence prior to pulling the trigger, and was pleasantly surprised when I took it out of the box to find I'd simply got lucky, it's in great shape. That being said, the covers show signs of use so I'm now searching for somewhere to get replacement covers since they came with the cocobolo like mine but G-10 also.

The knife is 9" with a 154CM needle-point blade minus a N/N since it features a rotary-lock system for opening/closing, SS 2-piece frame that also acts as the liners, pocket-clip, lanyard bracket, and checkered cocobolo covers secured with screws.
It has a comfortable weight of 4 oz.'s and came with the cutting edge professionally sharpened.
The action is silky smooth, but it takes some practise learning how to open/close the blade with only 1-hand via the rotary-lock.
Other than the wear and tear on the covers, the fit and finish is excellent.
It quite surprises me that the previous owner would actually use a knife like this, IMO it's much more of a display piece, then again, I likely wouldn't have been able to afford it had it not been offered used.
