Trusting is difficult

Post by Camillus »

I posted here Want Adds:
Looking for Swiss Army knives and was given a referral to a member Jason94sport Bills Bascot who has a knife for sale Swiss Alox $40 shipped. I contacted him and paid using PayPal the $40 and now he won’t send the knife unless I pay an additional $20 to have him ship the knife. I tried several times to get him to refund me or mail the knife which I paid for with no results. This is very difficult for me to deal with a person you want to trust.

What would you do ?

Checkout https://www.paypal.com/us/digital-walle ... protection where you most likely can file a claim and get your money back. Holding your money and knife hostage for $20 shipping on an 8oz package smells fishy and I’m sure that wasn’t what you thought when you paid $40. I’m sorry this has happened to you ::handshake::

BTW, I searched for member Jason94sport and found nothing ::shrug:: maybe I spelled it incorrectly?

Is this the advertisement he responded to: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... x#p1151338

Do an AAPK search on Caveat emptor and you’ll find numerous examples just like yours. To me sending money to someone that I don’t have some secondary connection to is risky at best. You cannot count on his AAPK membership alone to validate them as a seller (or buyer).

This thread https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... hp?t=70365 was made a ”sticky” in the Want Ads forum, the very first thread at the top in that forum. It outlines the very symptoms Camillus has described here. Hopefully others will read it as the warning caution it is intended to be.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies. ::facepalm:: I feel for ya, but unfortunately today we live in world of crooks with no morals. Sad.

thanks Ken - I knew we had a warning about this - I just couldn't find it on my phone. ::handshake::

I tried several times to request a refund from seller and contacted PayPal who can’t do anything because I sent payment to a friend. Regardless I have learned a lesson.
It’s just a shame you can’t trust people anywhere online you really don’t know.

so true but sadly that is the case nearly 100% of the time. Also, if any deal seems too good to be true it probably isn't genuine and any Swiss Alox for $40 unless badly beat-up is most likely too good of a deal to be true IMHO. ::tu:: These are the Alox knives for sale in our AAPK stores: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... mit=Search of which only 1 is less than $40.

This is the original message I was sent:

Hey, have you try asking Jason94sport about the Victorinox Alox knives he has to part out with? If not i will advise you to ask him because the last time i spoke with him, it's still available and he wants to let it go for a very affordable offer. You can email him for a fast response. Bascotbills@gmail.com.......Have a nice day
