New member from Maryland

Post by wildjim »

Hey,

I am interested in pocket knives/slip joint knives and have mostly memories of my father's pocket knives and little detailed knowledge of pocket knives.

I will use knives more than collect but I plan to look around yard sales and flea markets for deals and need some advice and suggestions as what to look for. . .

Also I can buy wholesale.

My first question is what slip joint knives are the best value for the money and which should I avoid?

Thank You,

Jim

Hi Jim ::welcome:: to AAPK,

Glad to have you join us here.

My advice on collecting would be this:
1. Avoid the Chinese made knives. They don't have much collector value.
2. Go slow. Try to learn about knives before you put much money into a them.
3. Buy what you like. Collecting knives is about much more than making a financial
investment. If you don't like the knife, don't buy it.
4. Get a couple of knife books, go to a few knife shows and learn the ropes. You will enjoy
the hobby much more if you'll do that.
5. Don't be afraid to ask questions here on AAPK. There are lots of folks here who will be
glad to help you along.

Once again, welcome. I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do.
