Hello from Northern Ohio
Hello from Northern Ohio
Well Hello Everyone.
I think I found out about this forum looking through the comments of one of Reverend's videos. Anyway, I was really into slip joints in the early 70's to 80's. I bought lots of knives from places like Ace Hardware and Western Auto. I always bought them with my own money or a friend would give me one or two. I lost All of those knives over the years of moving out and my parents moving several times. Now I am chasing after those fairly inexpensive knives. They were mostly Imperials and Colonials with a few Remington and others. Don't think I ever had any real collectible or expensive ones.
I have a real soft spot for the ones that just need cleaned up and those that need a little TLC. I am trying to learn what I can about repairing and saving them, so that is what I am mostly interested in, at this time. Some of it is relearning stuff I used to know and kind of forgot, which is exciting.
I guess that's it for now. I'm enjoying this forum and pouring through threads.
Take Care
Dave

Welcome Dave, nice to see you found AAPK through one of our own members how to videos(which are great by the way Rev). There are tons of good threads and info in the knife mechanics sub forum here.

Welcome to AAPK!
I am glad you like the videos, and glad that they brought you here.
I learned most of what I know about knife repair from this site, and the fine men and women who make this website feel like Home!
And if you think this place is fun now, just wait until the POS exchange this Spring!!

Re: Hello from Northern Ohio
Better L8T than never is one of my favorites. Nice to see another Buckeye in the AAPK mix. Welcome aboard...I'm located in NE Ohio, but was raised in North Central Ohio. Best wishes in finding some of the replacements for those that attracted you in the good ol' days.
I’m a long time collector in search of rare and limited GEC AND Northwoods knives. Always looking to add ivory pieces to my collection. PM to discuss sales or trades, please!
Re: Hello from Northern Ohio
Hey, thanks Bucksharp. I am late! Just saw this was from the 24th, last month.
