Jim, I have that same teardrop. It's the only Case out of several Case purchases with good snap and half stops. Good lookin and well made is a Case rarity these days.

I decided to take another chance on a Case Barlow. Should be delivered next week. If this one is no better than my last several Case purchases I'm done forever with them.

Just got the new Case Barlow. I must say this may be the best new Case I have bought in years. Great snap, half stops on both blades, no gaps anywhere, nice color. I'm impressed!

The hunter, I use dozens of times of day, for all sorts of tasks.

Thanks Steve. Partial to it as well as my go to watch pocket carry. Light work. Great pattern.
The bone is a cranberry shade of red. Red bone as far as CASE and knife expert standards and my discerning eye as well. One's mileage may vary.. Have an USA 6111-1/2L with that cranberry Redbone I handled today from my EDC pile.
Case Swing Guard is my favorite pattern. May carry and post that knife soon.

TF, it is an ad for the case Collector's Club, as well as saying that the Small Congress is a vault release for 2023 (I think the 05 Razor is the vault release for 2024). This knife that I just got is the Case 2024 Spring Show Special Kinzua Blue Anodized Eagle. So, I am not sure why the Small Congress notice is in the box...

On another note, I've been buying every old "beater" Case I come across locally for cheap. They make pretty darn good EDCs, and I've found the exact opposite is true. Experts price them reasonably. Yet, I've seen a lot of people not well-versed in knives put mint prices on some worn-out beater with no snap.

Guy near me is the same way as you describe. Three-quarters of the knives he has are what I'd call beaters. No snap, signs of heavy use, and reprofiled blades on many--yet "mint with box" pricing on all of them--with most Cases priced at near $100.

Usually, I A: trade something I don't want or B: buy from the cheapo pile--while it's mostly garbage Chinese knives, I've found an Imperial USA trick opener, a couple of nice Japanese-made ad knives, and a CRKT M16 all for a couple bucks each. All but the CRKT (which was beat-up and needed a couple screws and a clip via warranty request) were in great shape.


Meanwhile, a lot of guys at the indoor flea market have prices similar to what I see stuff sell for here, and I have no problems buying stuff at appropriate prices for "beaters".
