I believe this is celluloid? I apologize in advance for any poor pics. My new camera auto-focuses, and it is hit or miss when doing so in macro mode. The longest blade is stamped 896K on the reverse. The pic I took of it was a bit out-of-focus, and then I ran out of daylight.

That pattern, the 896K was made from 1952 to 1980, and with your particular tang stamp (I think I see the word Walden there) from 1952 to 1973. Over the course of this time that pattern had covers from celluloid, and then a similar look in Delrin, and then there was even a variant that looked like barnwood, also in Delrin. Your example looks to me like the Delrin one, which is more opaque in appearance to the older celluloid, but I can't be sure from your photograph. If the covers are absolutely tight to the bolsters with no shrinkage, it is probably Delrin. A great pattern! Thanks for sharing!

Nice old knife you have Chris - Here are a few example that were mentioned - The 234K is older knife than the 896K - the 832 has a handle they called propwood - According to research here on AAPK the call the "K" knives K-Horn Celluloid but the ones shown here aren't like the old pre war celluloid's I've seen - Not sure what composition of handles are but sure like'm
