Push Dagger For Your Phone

Post by bestgear »

A low profile push dagger designed to attach to your phone case and be with your wherever you go. Always carry your phone? Now you are always ready for the predator or package at your door! Just remember to leave it home when you travel by air ::facepalm::

This reminded me of a project by a famous Russian knifemaker. Now I need to find this in my bins and photograph it  .

Doesn't look too bad, and looks like that if you aren't keen on having it on your phone (or even having a smartphone), it can be carried as a neck knife. A few other companies have made knives that fit into phone cases, but usually, the designs were strange, and awkward to use.

My smartphone is huge as it is, to add a push dagger isn't helping the situation. I like the neck knife idea but for $65 there are tons of choices if I was going in that direction (which I am not). I was really interested to hear from our modern tactical collectors to see what they thought of this offering. ::nod::

BTW - I found Jocko Knives when they responded to my Facebook Marketplace advertisement for my rolling 20 display cases unit. Turns out they may be able to use them for the shows that they work ::tu::

Imo the width of steel between the knuckles make the blade look extremely uncomfortable and most likely unusable in an actual fight. It may make a solid "thumb dagger", but I wouldn't wanna actually punch ANYTHING with that blade unless I just wanted to eff my hand up. Sad to say, a lot of modern "push daggers" are made this way. Obviously never used by someone who punches "medium" with any resistance. Hard pass.

Anyone interested in a real "wallet or phone carry" push dagger should probably look into Fred Perrin, ( not JUST because I'm a fan, but he actually specializes in covert weapons), take the scales off a crkt minimalist, ka bar ldk or if you can find it, the old shiv works lil loco.

Reading the title reminded me of this. Hopefully, it will be processed as intended. http://www.dontevenreply.com/view.php?post=84

Weapons in general are very personal. There's no real "one size fits all" option. That said, the trade-off for "covert", or ease of concealment is usually comfort. Almost all of the thumb daggers, push daggers etc , designed EXCLUSIVELY for concealment are usually uncomfortable during use because of how thin the steel is. During impact, if you're not spot on with your targeting, you will definitely hurt your hand. They're designed only as last ditch weapons to create space. They can be modified to feel better, but adding width to the grip, kills the whole concealment concept. My best advice is actually the la Griffe. Thin, flat, sharp, and the ergos are perfect for thrusting and slashing. I didn't recommend it, because the OP asked specifically about push daggers. The la Griffe will also fit inside a wallet or phone case.

Last but not least, usually removing scales will kill a knife design, but if you REALLY inspect the blades I recommended, you'll see that yue the pistol gripped profile of the ka bar ldk, and the deep finger grooves of the crkt minimalist keep them pretty safe options regardless of thickness. They'll just be less comfortable obviously. Depending on how large your phone case is, you could even do it with a cold steel mini tac. It's all about the design. ( Deep finger grooves/ guard). Let me know if you need any other info. I'm not an expert, but Ive been around. 🤣

If I find myself in the situation suddenly considering using my knife defensively then where I have already failed is not bringing my pistol. Who brings a knife to a gun fight?

Yes I have carried knives with consideration of having to use them defensively. Perhaps more than most as LEO, but whipping out my phone to get to the knife? Don't think so.
