Finally took the time to get this little PAL in fighting shape. No sunshine, so this poor pic will have to do. The main has an odd discoloration like perhaps it was heated, but it's uniform so I don't know. Both blades took a darn fine edge though.

Chris, that's a good one.
Can't read the stamp, is it PAL CUTLERY or PAL BLADE?
Those handles are really nice, I've got a few PALs with those bones.

Thanks MM! It’s official, I’m hooked on these traditional autos. Even thinking of trading away some of my fixed blades, for a few more.
Now this one… Doesn’t have quite the fit and finish displayed by the 6” AGA Camp version that I showed you. The difference is very slight, but side by side, you can see it. But mostly feel it.
The little Campolin just feels a bit more solid, and fires harder. And despite this, the AKC came sharper. And I mean SHARP. I didn’t need to touch it up on a strop, or anything. And it easily push cuts a plain sheet of paper.
Next quest is for a proper push button. I just missed out on a real nice, honey horn, 7.75”er. An AB/SKM, with a flat grind. The site was blowing it out on discount, and it went out of stock by the time I put the funds together. In one day actually. Was “in stock” in the a.m., and sold out by 4p.m.
Got a doctor’s appt. today (wish me luck), and afterwards, I’m hitting the little second hand joint, to sift through their “knife box.” Every once in a while I find a gem there.
Any suggestions on a site that has good prices and good stock?

Thanks DL! Popped it off in my neighborhood tavern, to scratch off a coupla lottery tix, and it caught the attention of the bartender, and a coupla regulars, and everyone wanted to see it, and play with it! took me a half hour to give them all a chance. Well, that didn't take long, Luke, usually it takes someone a couple of weeks and a whole bunch of knives before they're hooked, but be careful with trading your knives, you don't want to trade something you'll later regret.Good Old Luke wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 1:52 pmThanks MM! JFYI, I've read about two ways to spot clones, one, Chinese knives ALWAYS come sharp, and two, if the rivet in the metal strip running down the center of the handle is a fixed rivet it's genuine, if it's a screw it's a clone, and they've been accurate so far. Personally, I don't object to cloned knives, but when they use logos and patents that's just stealing and simply not right. I have a few that I use mostly for "click therapy", and I can't find a thing wrong with any of them, and they were so much cheaper so why not, politics aside.
The only suggestions for buying knives I can think of, are www.dhgate.com , and, www.Aliexpress.com , both are overseas Chinese sites that exclusively sell clones and some counterfeits. There is also www.knifeshop.com which is also overseas, but it's the official AGA Campolin store, so perhaps this one for only AGA products.
For buying domestically I'd suggest, www.grindworx.com , www.directknifesales.com , and www.smkw.com . There are tons more that a Google search will reveal.
In this knife age, if you wish to buy a product, buy it quickly as I've had them disappear from my "Cart" as I was still browsing! It's not unusual for certain knife drops to sell out in seconds, so stay sharp, no pun intended.
Good luck at the Dr., man, and the same afterwards at the "Knife Box"!

Ozark Trail 7.5" Folding Knife.
Mine had it in store, but I chose shipping since the fancier version was out of stock in most Walmarts. The basic version got delivered early from my local Walmart--Door Dash, I think?
While not directly a copy, it's obvious it was inspired by the Benchmade Bugout--short liners (basically, just where the AXIS lock is), AXIS lock, lightweight plastic handles, and a pretty similar clip.
Personally, it's a lot of knife for $5. Pretty smooth action, solid feeling handles (even though they're just polypropylene--not nylon), and great lockup.
I also ordered some in D2--they have skeletonized liners and orange handles--they're $10. If this one's any indication, I've got pretty high expectations. It's no Benchmade, but it's some of the best value in knives. For once, I have a cheap knife I actually like. I used to carry Milwaukee's Fastback with the AXIS-style lock as my beater--but I felt the assisted opening was unneccessary, and it was clunky. You can buy four of these for the cost of that, and for all effective purposes, they 're equal knives.
