The Dangers of Knife Sharpening... some folks never learn
The Dangers of Knife Sharpening... some folks never learn
If you look closely at this young lady's right hand you can see she has some digits missing, presumably as a result of some long ago knife sharpening mishap. If you look at the entire photo of her at her knife sharpening station, you can see she has never quite absorbed the need for wearing proper personal protective equipment. Perhaps the alcohol in the background is a contributing factor. (Sorry for the blue highlights, but some folks here don't approve of even mildly salacious material and we need to respect their views.)

Moving parts are always dangerous.
You can always get more money, good old knives are hard to find.

I suspect that the alcohol in the background is for medicinal purposes only, such as (but not limited to) sterilizing open cuts or scrapes, cleaning medical equipment and the very effective use for sterilization of the mouth, esophagus and stomach lining.

Woah, that's a nice model.
I'd like to take that for a spin.
Get it nice and wet first of course.
Then ever so gently, just the tip.
You see I'm into vintage sharpening equipment and I've got several tipped blades that need reprofiling, and those bench top models are stunning.

I wonder if that is a commercial shop or the original knife nerds sharpening bench.
Very cool set up.
I would not think the picture is any newer than 1950’s?
Makes her almost 100 now. Sigh…..
