GEO. SCHRADE knife
Any one have a book showing this PRESTO knife. About 3 3/8 inches closed. Pretty excited about finding this knife, never been sharpened and the bone is perfect. None of my books show this size with bone handles.

Mark Ericksons book Antique American Switchblades shows this knife , I believe the model to be a 610s .

The bone ones are somewhat scarce ... especially in nice shape , mines been used in its life and still is today but if it looked like yours it would be in a case

Re: GEO. SCHRADE knife
Thank you for the responses, guys.
Lyle, These are nonthreatening knives and really a pleasure to use --- around the house --- because if I took it out in public
I stand to spend a few years in jail here in Connecticut.

Isn't that just about as ridiculous as it gets, Joe. What is wrong with some people.

Re: GEO. SCHRADE knife
The legislature here can't really think this knife is dangerous. They simply want to control the populace.

Lyle, you don't know what you're missing.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: GEO. SCHRADE knife
It’s discrimination against disabled people. Some only have ONE hand. Are they suppose to open a knife with their teeth? Just like a pistol brace, designed for the disabled.

Re: GEO. SCHRADE knife
I wouldn't worry about that. I spoke to FBI, ATF and many cops and legislators about the Switchblade Act and it's a Draconian law. ATF actually said "we have our hands filled with guns, not worried about switchblades".

Re: GEO. SCHRADE knife
I wouldn't mind owning a nice larger bone handled Schrade or the GEC facsimile, but I can hardly afford my farmers jacks anymore.
I do like those and wouldn't mind owning one like JKB's, if only to try and use the automatic.

Re: GEO. SCHRADE knife
All of the Schrade Walden 3-3/8" knives are double blades. The Presto is the only model in that size that is a single.
FRJ- nice knife, but keep an eye on the handles. The celluloid is beginning to deteriorate. Once this starts, it outgasses nitric acid fumes. These fumes will literally eat the knife from the inside out, and will damage anything stored near it. The only thing you can do is pry them off of the knife. Symptoms include: greying/dulling of the nickel silver pins and buttons and a light rusting of the steel parts.
I am currently working to make or have made replacement handles for these on a commercial basis.

When did the ATF add a K to things? Autos are out of their realm, not that they wouldn’t love to regulate knives too.bill schrade wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 2:20 pmATF actually said "we have our hands filled with guns, not worried about switchblades".

ATF has never enforced switchblade laws.
FBI, Customs and US Postal Inspectors have.
