Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
A Congress pattern is quite rare at our camp. For some reason they never appealed to me. The last few years I began to warm up to them. I believe it was a Boker with wooden handles that got my attention. Yesterday I got a Queen 1/2 Congress out of the shallow end of the bay, unsharpened and it would serve me as an EDC if it wasn't in such good condition.NCC1701 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 2:58 pm As I said in a post yesterday, I carry the knives I buy for the most part. I have a small handful that I do not carry, but most of that is for some type of sentimental reason. Having said that, here is what I have in my pocket today. A Robert Klaas congress. I love this knife..... It is small and comfortable in my pocket. It is also very sharp (as most of my knives are). I have learned to appreciate congress style knives. I used to only like stockman style, but these have really grown on me. Any comments or info is welcomed.
My choice in patterns went from trappers to stockman, took a while to warm up to anything except a Case. Somehow I missed the vaccination that prevents "knife hoarding".

Sounds just like me Phillip! From Trappers to Stockman and now to Muscrats! Case mainly. I do like a good older Congress though. My Imperial serves me well in the Congress pattern.treefarmer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 6:55 pmA Congress pattern is quite rare at our camp. For some reason they never appealed to me. As I said before, I carry something different everyday. Some people rescue animals, some people rescue other items. I rescue pocket knives. This is one that I saw and I could not leave at the antique mall. It is an Old Timer Lumberjack. If you will notice that it has scratches on all of the blades. it looks like someone hit each blade with some type of grinder right in the middle of the side of the blade. I have worked on the blades with sandpaper and tried to get the scratches out. It is a work in progress, but I have come to be very fond of this knife. It is quite large for a stockman, but it has a leather sheath and I carry it that way.
To explore strange new worlds.... to seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before.
