What is it?
What is it?
I’m sure the notorious forum question finds itself on here daily “what’s it’s worth” “ my grandfather left me this” as a member of boat, and watch forums I know the community hates these questions but today I’ll be joining the party.
My grandfather was a collector of many things, knives being one, going through some things I found one box (of many) of knives I really have no idea were to even start with research these so I thought I would start at a forum.
I’m starting with these the one looks pretty interesting

Re: What's It Worth?
I referred you to this thread from your prior post https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... hp?t=84080 in hopes you would read the posts here and gain some knowledge about determining a knife's value. Wasn't expectiing you would just duplicate your earlier post here.

The custom folder reminds me of a Joe Kious knife. Any markings?
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Wow, what do I even do with this thing would you suggest going to a knife shop to have them look at it or finding a specialist and sending it to them.bestgear wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 9:36 pmcheckout this link: https://www.arizonacustomknives.com/kni ... kious-joe/Br90 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:44 pmOn the bottom of the blade it says KIOUS it seems you were spot on what can you tell me about these knives.1967redrider wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 6:52 pm The custom folder reminds me of a Joe Kious knife. What do you want to do with it? Arizona Custom Knives is probably a good source for information. They sell custom knives on consignment so if that’s your intent they’re also good for that.

You gotta admit, Ken, the title of this thread could be taken that way.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 2:09 pm
Please go back to the top and read the posts in this thread that you've posted in. The purpose of this thread is to educate about how to determine value of items, not for posting pictures of knives and asking what they are worth. If after reading you still need to ask for value, recommend you post it in a new stand alone thread.

Re: What's It Worth?
No doubt. It was made a “sticky” for a reason, but the more posts it gets, the more likely it is to deviate from the OP intent. Just how it is with forum threads. That’s why I requested a while back that the thread be “locked”, so no more posts could be added. And help preserve the original intent and advice. But it was never locked.tvic wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 2:38 pmYou gotta admit, Ken, the title of this thread could be taken that way.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 2:09 pm

Posts are the lifeblood of the forum, and certainly should be encouraged. I try to gently steer new posters to the right places but many are just wanting a value and nothing else. (Often so they can sell the knife). I find it interesting that instead of looking for comparable sales on eBay, they will accept as gospel a number thrown out by a complete stranger on a forum!

Re: What's It Worth?
I have high hopes that the new "Home" page with its four divisions would lead new people to the particular area of their interest. BUY if they are looking to buy will direct them to the AAPK stores. SELL will direct them on how to correctly sell on AAPK or open a store. Many many first time posters have come to the seller thread and offered something for sale with their first post. TALK is what most of us do here, and learn things from it. RESEARCH will enable newcomers to find out for themselves the answers to questions they may have. But human nature being what it is, there will still probably be posts like " I have an ABC knife and I've looked everywhere and can't find anything about it." When simply putting the name of their ABC knife into any search engine will deliver tons of info. This Whats It Worth thread will show examples of that. I agree, this thread should be locked as it has degenerated into something far from how it started.
