Remington Spratts Dog Grooming knife

Post by btrwtr »

Here is a current eBay sale of a supposed Remington R4733 dog grooming knife. The knife is actually a Spratts dog grooming knife with fake Remington stamps. Note the metal displacement and bruising from the fake cold stamp. The bone on this knife is typically Spratts and looks nothing like genuine Remington Rodgers bone. The fitting of all parts of the Spratts knives are a bit crude when compared to a Remington knife. Note the gaps between bone and bolsters. The Spatts knives are definitely neat collectibles in their own right but they certainly aren't Remingtons.

The knife is listed for a Buy-It Now price of $415, Hope no one bites on this fake.

The seller took the sale down. Says the knife is good and a Remington collector has said it is genuine and offered him $350 for it. Says it's probably one of the Remington knives made in Europe.

It's a bogus restamped Spratts knife.

If a serious Remington collector offered $350, take the money and run. ::mdm::

I think that’s a “flip”. Saw that same knife in an auction on eBay a couple weeks ago - or one like it.

That thing would never fool a Remington collector. Shame that a nice knife was ruined to try to make a few dollars.

Lots of cracks in the bone :o ::td::

That's a real nice example MB. Shame someone ruined that OP knife trying to make it into something it wasn't,

Nice Dimitri , I don't know who made those handles on your knife, but you see that jigging on all UK makers of that time period .Typical English jigging.

Thanks Wayne.Facebook is full of cobbled stuff too. If it's shiny , you better know where it came from! I go there for family and GEC stuff mostly, but it's a subculture of it's own.
I buy roosters combs and farmers..........................................................jack knives [/b]

I am kind of related, via our daughter-in-law, to a family named Spratt. He’s a nice man and they had a terrier dog at the time and I tried for years to get him a Spratt’s dog groomer knife, as much as I like him, I could never get one at a price commiserate with my liking for him.
