Use/Carry a Wire Knife?
Use/Carry a Wire Knife?
Am I crazy for thinking one of the smaller Geo Schrade wire jacks would be a reasonable EDC pocket knife? Is it a problem carrying one without the sheet metal guard/shield?
Thanks

Not something I would carry, but that's your call.
Carry what YOU like.

Take care and God bless,

By the wear on some of them it appears some were carried.

Re: Use/Carry a Wire Knife?
Yes John, as a matter of fact, I do carry a wire jack pocket knife. But, it is NOT one of my wire jack or wire frame pocket knives that is posted under the topic or thread that you provided the link for. Instead, I carry the wire jack pocket knife that I posted below. A couple or few years ago, I saw on eBay that there was a seller who had several wire jack pocket knives with different blade styles. I am by no means an expert on them. I figured he was able to acquire several wire jack frames, and assembled them with different styles of blades AND with different tang stamps. Most of these "modified" wire jack pocket knives have brass or bronze pivot pins. I waited for, and finally found one WITHOUT a tang stamp and I bought it. It measures 3 1/4" closed and 5 3/4" open, overall length. This wire jack pocket knife does have a SOFT half stop. This wire jack pocket knife does have an OK opening snap. This wire jack pocket knife does have a GOOD closing snap. This wire jack pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. It did NOT need any cleaning at all. I took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Use/Carry a Wire Knife?
I found maybe three of these while redplacing gas sevice lines and meters. A man was cleaning house and throwing box's of stuff away right in our path. Anyway I never saw them before and thought they were some hitchpin companies give away! I carried one for quite a while, they don't weigh much and are handy. Think i gave at least one to a grandson, have to look around.

The wire knives (and forks) have a minimalist attraction to them, nothing but the bare necessities. In a good way however, not like the restaurant that serves a small tastey bite for more than the cost of a regular meal and where the waiter looks at you like you simply don't understand.
