Trying to replace husband's stolen knife

My husband is a Disabled Marine. For our first Christmas together, I purchased a Case knife for him that sort of looked like a sword. It was item number 13192 USMC Gray Bone Smooth Cheetah. This knife is one of his most prized possessions. Someone stole it. I am trying to find a replacement and am having zero luck. Can anyone by chance point me in the right direction?? I am attaching 2 photos. One i took and the other i found online. It shows better detail.

There are many Case Cheetahs to be had, I believe. I hope you can find one specific to the Marines.

Welcome to AAPK. Sad that your husband’s knife was stolen. Unfortunately Case is not currently making the “Cheetah” swing guard pattern. Doesn’t mean they won’t make the pattern again, but it’s not in their 2025 standard product catalog. Even if they do make it in the future there is no guarantee they will make another exactly like the one in your pictures. eBay may be a source but you’ll need to set up a search for it and keep watching. Case does have a Marine Corps commemorative in another pattern currently available on their web site https://caseknives.com/collections/unit ... s=e&_v=1.0.

FOUND ONE ! Cheetah's are rare and always expensive, as they're no longer made and highly collectible. So if you really want one for sentimental reasons - this is as close as you're likely to find to the stolen one ... just be prepared for the sticker shock.

The Cheetah herbva found at Blade Headquarters matches but is sold out. The $404 Marine Cheetah Lansky1 found does not match and $404 for a bone handled Cheetah is above the stratosphere! While the correct matching Cheetah toomanyknives found is priced very high at least its price is still on the planet. Case has made Cheetah pattern knives off and on for over a century so it is likely they will make more some year but that's only my guess and it is very unlikely they'll make any matching the one your husband lost. Maybe make more meals at home or something like that to fit it in your budget without telling your husband how much you had to pay for it. He'll be happier if he doesn't know.

I hate thieves. Unfortunately nice American made knives are a target for them.

By the way, knives with swing guards look less like swords if you understand their swing guard is an important safety feature for messy jobs like cleaning slimmy salmon. The guard blocks your slime covered hand from slidding down the edge.

Just something else to consider……..

I know myself, and no matter what branch of the military that I had served in, I’d rather have a cheetah with nothing written or engraved or etched on it. Lots of beautiful cheetahs out there in the $80 to $120 price range. I’m sure he really appreciated the original one you gave him but give him something different for a replacement. I can almost guarantee, he will love it because you gave it to him and that is what matters most.

I have only been collecting a few years, but this is the type of thing i see often. The majority of the people i have met in the knife community have been some of the nicest, big hearted, and most generous individuals i have had the pleasure of meeting. Just a few weeks ago i saw a bunch of sellers on whatnot do back to back auctions of some of their nicest knives and then gave the money to a kid with leukemia. A lot of people would buy a knife and then donate it back, only for others to do the same. I have seen so many random acts of kindness. This also seems to be a community who does not mind sharing knowledge. If anything, they live for it. My apologies for the long reply. I am just overwhelmed with how great this experience has been
