Do you have any counterfeit knives? How did you get them?
I have been lucky enough to avoid buying a counterfeit under the assumption that it was real. I did buy one once for a couple of other reasons.
1. As a learning tool....
2. To keep it out of the hands of the less than honest.
The seller was honest as it was advertised as counterfeit, and I have it marked as fake.
Here is a picture...
This one is fairly easy to spot as fake.

patmolly,
I'll have a go, then maybe we'll get some more folks jumping in here....
The CASE stamp on the tang of the master blade is quite sloppy for one thing...looks to have been done one letter at a time.
Also, can't really see all the jigging so I might be mistaken, it doesn't look like Case jigging on the scales to me.
Next batter.....

Great observations El Lobo.
I am probably the world's worst photographer, but I have a couple of larger pictures I took if anyone wants to see this knife in more detail.

another blast from the past, a fake canoe with a bad shield and very dubious jigging.

I bought a couple early on, like lat 80’s, early 90’s.
I gave the to The National Knife Museum. They had a counterfeit display.
No telling where they are now.

Here are two fakes. I knew the fake Reeves was fake. Bought because it was so inexpensive and thinking it was another decently made Chinese knock off. No. It's junk, big wobble, lame steel, poor action, RoughRider beats these by a mile. Not worth what I paid, would never buy one again. Won't support copyright infringement like this any more.
The Elder Manufacturing St Louis was sold to me as a legit vintage knife, I fell for it, thought it was made in the 1960-80s something. Paid 50 or 60 clams at the time because it felt so well made, perfect action, walk and talk, transitions, flush, tight springs. Cannot say enough good. The bone is excellent and well hafted, perfect for a supposed vintage knife. Reminds me exactly of a Bulldog from that era. Well the commenter's on AAPK told me they spotted a fake. I will go with their assessment as they know more than me. I just don't understand how someone can make a really good knife and sell it for $50-60 and make money? And it is a great knife, so why don't they put their own name on it, because then it's a real knife maker, not a fake Elder Mfg? They could compete with Case, GEC, etc and sell them easily under a new brand name, and command more money, so why fake an Elder Mfg? Makes no sense to me. For what it's worth, hope nobody gets scammed like I did.

Re: Do you have any counterfeit knives? How did you get them?
I have purchased 2 Temu fakes, both clones of CRKT models. The first, purchased out of curiosity, was a CEO. It came in a CRKT box and was, except for minor cosmetic differences, very close to the real thing. I gifted that knife to my son-in-law, who had recently lost his genuine CEO. I told him it was a Chinese knockoff and he said he never would have known if I hadn’t told him. The second was a Redemption clone. It came in a black box, with no outward indication that it was a CRKT. The knife is actually closer to the real thing than the CEO. I have never had a Redemption in hand, so I wasn’t able to spot any discrepancies. It was purchased because I really liked the style of the Redemption, but would never have paid $225 for the real thing. The knife is in my collection and will not be sold as long as I am alive. I expect my son will take my collection when I am gone, so no one will ever be scammed with this knife.

- Insignia on blade is etched - all 110's are stamped by Buck. Some Buck knives are etched now but all the ones I have seen are higher on blade not close to pivot point.
- Rivets are a brass color - Buck always uses stainless rivets in these Buck slims.
- sharpening angle - I have seen so many Bucks that I recognized that the sharpening angle is not correct. Buck uses 13-16 degree angle while this one is probably closer to 20 degrees.
- Machine marks on blade - you can see machine marks on this blade while Buck either machines finer or buffs these marks out.
If you are on ebay and see these being sold by someone in China for $26 - be wary. He is using stock Buck photo's to advsertise.
BTW - I sent an email to Buck about this - no response. Assume they are either too busy to respond or don't care.

I have the same sentiments as Ivoryman. I don't understand the logic of making a "fake" knife when you can build a decent knife and retain your integrity. Here's mine.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 6:45 pm The Elder Manufacturing St Louis was sold to me as a legit vintage knife, I fell for it, thought it was made in the 1960-80s something.
