Oscar barnett tool repairs
Hello to all my knife loving friends! I have recently started collecting antique Oscar Barnette tools. I recently bought one that was supposed to be working properly. Unfortunately, the piece that the bone scale attaches to is broken and causes the end bolster and scale to move. It also causes a lot of wobble in the blade. Does anyone on here know of or have any recommendations on who may be able to fix it? I have an extra tool that could be used for parts if absolutely necessary, but would prefer not to lol.

That blade stamp/etch is hard to find on these, hope you can get it repaired.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Thank you for the replies and link! Yes, that blade is definitely hard to find! Other than the one issue, it is a really nice barnette tool and feel lucky to have gotten it. That's why i realmy want to get the issue fixed. I will check out the link and see what i can find. Thank you!

A couple of things that might help. There is a search function in the drop-down menu under Quicklinks, on the upper left of this thread. Or from the Knife Repair subforum home page, type the word you’re searching for in the little box where it says Search This Topic, then click on the little magnifying glass icon. I’d search for Barnett, (there’s no “e”. If you search for it with an “e” your search probably won’t find anything). And I’d search for Bolster, since that’s what needs to be fixed.
With those you most likely can find someone that does, or has done, the kind of repair needed. If you find a member who has done what you need send them a PM or email and go from there. If you simply post your knife and its problem and ask for someone to contact you, you may be in for a long wait. Just my experience anyway.

Thank you for the information. I am still learning how this site works. I appreciate the heads up on the "e" . Auto text and my lack of proofreading caused that e to appear and then stay. I will try your suggestion. I have collected 3 of these so far and do not want to part one out if i can help it, so i will have faith that someone can help. Thanks again
