I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. It now becomes the latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It is a TAIWAN, one blade, two tang stamps, a blade etch, 4 1/4" closed, lockback, pocket knife. The main blade etch says "1886 - 1986" with an image of the torch between the dates. The main blade front tang stamp says "857692" The main blade back tang stamp says "STAINLESS (over) TAIWAN" The main handle side has a Statue Of Liberty scale and also has the 1886 - 1986 dates on it. The scale on the other handle side is missing. Still, it is in EXCELLENT condition. It needed no cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

New_Windsor_NY wrote: โ†‘Fri Apr 12, 2024 11:38 pm It does look like it would fit. I looked at the same knives on eBay and there are MANY.
They are definitely NOT expensive knives. But, it would be nice to have both scales.

A very special THANK YOU goes out to tnorton for sending me the missing scale for this pocket knife. ::tu:: ::tu::
Now, one Statue Of Liberty is gold tone and the other Statue Of Liberty is silver tone. This does NOT bother me.
So.....THANK YOU, tnorton!!๐Ÿป ::handshake::

I think this is my only Taiwan pocket knife. I got it this summer. The vendor knew I was looking for USA made knives and almost apologized for this one, but I LOVE it. I placed a stockman below it just for size comparison. It is a Big single blade. Again, I Love it!

Looks pretty nice for a Taiwan pocketknife. ::tu:: I have quite a few, almost all are of a more "tactical" design. ::hmm::

I received this figural "DAD" pocket knife, new, as a gift, back in the late 1980's. It now becomes my most recent example to be posted under this topic or thread. It did end up getting added to my general, "foreign born", pocket knife accumulation. It is a TAIWAN, one blade, one tang stamp, 2 1/2" closed, DAD, key shaped, figural pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "STAINLESS (over) TAIWAN" I have ONLY carried it on every Father's Day since I received it. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It has NEVER been cleaned. I took some pictures and here it is.

like the yay they recessed the scales down into the liners..

If this pocket knife was NOT made in Taiwan, I apologize for posting it here.
If this pocket knife WAS made in Taiwan, then it's posted in the right place.
This particular pocket knife is also posted under "Japanese-made knives"
Anyway.....

Not too recently, this pocket knife arrived with another pocket knife that I had purchased. This pocket knife was included as a gift from the seller. It now becomes my most recent example to be posted under this topic or thread. It was also added to my "foreign born" pocket knife accumulation. It is a BARLOW, two blades, two tang stamps, 2 3/4" closed, one spring, "scrimshaw" handles, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "BARLOW (in a rectangle) (over) USA" The secondary blade front tang stamp says, "STAIN (over) LESS" The main handle side has two images of an American bald eagle. The other handle side has one image of an American bald eagle. The main blade has a soft half stop, with an ok opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a soft half stop, with an ok opening and closing snap. This pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did NOT require any cleaning. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

Hey Skip. Have you seen this? I found it on Worthpoint with a little scrimshaw knife like yours.
'Stephen Barlow design EAGLE ART SCRIMSHAW PEN POCKET KNIFE in EXCELLENT REPAIRED CONDITION! Knife measures 2 3/4th inches long closed and has the beautifully detailed original art of Steven Barlow skillfully reproduced on the handles. Steven Barlow, American artist and craftsman, is renowned for artwork of exceptional detail, lifelike quality, and classic composition. The precise detail of his unique engravings is captured through an exacting reproduction process and then enhanced by skilled hand finishing".

Yes, I did see that on WorthPoint, along with other items. I did
notice that there are two different spellings of his name, there's
Stephen Barlow and Steven (Steve) Barlow. Same person or two
different people? I still think that my two BARLOW pocket knives
are from Japan or Taiwan. Really doesn't matter to me though.

I figured you had seen it, but just in case.. I saw the Made in USA that made me think those knives were contracted to a company here.
Like you say, it really doesn't matter, but they are cool little knives, for sure! Again as always, thanks for your info!
