While I was perusing the web looking at survival knives, this one came up. It is sold under the Ruko name which is Chinese made. What was the designer thinking cutting into the spine of the blade like that? Looks like that would weaken the blade significantly, and the blade would break off under normal use?? And how would that slitting edge work with several inches of blade extending beyond it???

It appears to be designed to appeal to young boys with a compass and a compartment for survival items. If I were 11, I’d be all about this one.
