I don't know about "collecting" swords, but I do love swords. I grew up reading fantasy novels (as well as pretty much every other book I could get my hands on!), and have desired to own a real sword for most of my life.
I have a broadsword with a broken handle that I have not gotten around to repairing yet, but it is a stainless steel wall-hanger, only for looks.
This replica katana is a recent purchase. It is 9260 spring steel, monoforged (not folded steel), but is clay hardened with a beautiful flame-patterned hamon. I call it a "replica", as it is new and was not made in Japan, but it is sharp and dangerous!
I do hope to gather a few more swords over time!

Very nice! ::tu:: ... I have a few katanas of varying degrees of quality; it is a sword that is hard not to love......

Well it's about time somebody brought out the BIG knives! Nice looking pices guys - all of them. Love that Knight's Templar blade. Family heirloom?
Swords are my first love, followed by bayonets when I cannot not afford a sword...followed by knives when I cannot afford a bayonet. And typically these days, when I can afford a sword, I see how many knives I can buy with the same money. Ain't that the way?

I have 11 swords to date - both historical and modern. The best photos so far are of these two:

Supposedly my father had it done while still in Japan and it was 200 years old. Who knows, stories get exaggerated through the years. I did sell another one that was a common officers sword. This one was much different,

Wow! A very awesome memento from your father. 👍👍

This Katana is most likely not Japanese, but still fairly well made as a modern piece.

I think I have about 50 swords and probably that many sword bayonets as well. Ranging from a late 1700s cutlass, to modern swords, with a concentration in naval cutlasses and US sabers and swords.

Unfortunately, I can't show them as I have not been able to post up pictures for 2 years now for some reason.

Can't see the gallery, can't find the gallery.

ZZ...50 swords? Oh in my dreams! And now I read no pics...whaaaat? I too have a handful of sword bayonets....man I would love to stare & compare and swap stories with you on these. I didn't post any of mine here thinking it might go over the top a little, but since you brought it up....just give me time.

I have read through some other disscussions about posting to the gallery - I don't seem to have that feature either, not that I can find anyway. I am assuming it's a feature that went away before I joined earlier this year. But not being able to post any pic? That constitutes a crisis. You may want to engage Bryan and nicely emplore him to assist in troubleshooting this issue. Your inability to post critial photos of historic signicance is hindering the progress of this thread!

Thanks for the tease - :D
