Help with identifying tang stamp

Post by JRM413 »

I am a novice and recently bought several old pocket knives and have been able to identify most of them. This one has me stumped though and I was wondering if any of the members here could help identify the maker and age. Thanks

I agree - Voos. According to Goins Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings Voos USA stamp was used 1919-1981. It was a trademark used by New Haven Hardware Company, which was a hardware distributor. Sorry I can’t tell you anything about its age other than that as I’m not aware that they changed their stamp any during that time. Someone else here may know. ::shrug::

Nice find! Must have been a fairly popular Voos pattern as there are several like it here viewtopic.php?p=663035&hilit=Voos#p663035

Thank you both for the help. Looks like it’s a barehead jack knife by VOOS now that I knew what to research
