The classy bull

Post by Mumbleypeg »

Today at church I saw an old friend named Bob that I hadn’t seen recently, and he reminded me of this incident. We were at Bob’s ranch with another friend, Jerry. (Jerry passed earlier this year). We were looking at Bob’s herd of cows in his pasture, when Bob commented that he needed to get a bull to put with his cows.

Jerry said he had a good bull that Bob could borrow for a couple of months. “If you want him I’ll get him and bring him back.” He said the bull was easy to load and he didn’t need any help. So while we waited Jerry got the bull and brought it in a stock trailer. We opened the gate so Jerry could pull the trailer with the bull into the pasture with the cows.

Jerry opened the trailer gate and the bull got out. The cows were all grazing together down the hill in the pasture. After exiting the trailer the bull, now being in an unfamiliar place, stood there and looked around. Over the next several minutes as we watched, the bull first looked at us. Then he looked at the cows. He looked at us again, then looked at the cows again. After about 10 minutes had gone by the bull hadn’t moved. It looked at us again.

I laughed and said, “Jerry, I don’t think your bull likes girls”.

Jerry thought about that for a minute. Then, feigning indignation, he said “There ain’t nothing wrong with my bull. He’s just got higher standards!”
