Keep an eye on the Chicago White Sox. They should begin to climb in the standings with a little divine assistance, Pope Leo is a White Sox fan!
I hope Pope Leo can pitch. He graduated from Villanova with a degree in mathematics, so he's a saber metric fan.
Not Catholic , but I agree with his principles.

No matter who you root for, you gotta admire Skubal's game against the Guardians yesterday. This will be one of, if not the most impressive player performances of the 2025 season.....2 hit cg shutout, 13 k's, pitch count under 100!!!!,

Skubal is terrific .
That's the only pitching performance that would ensure a Reds win it seems. The Cub's losses were brutal, they demolished the Reds bullpen.

Cubs are pretty solid, Pete Crow Armstrong is fun to watch, as well as having the best name in baseball!
I've tuned in to the Reds for a few games this season, they can look great, maybe Noelvi Marte will come back and go on another hot streak.
Hitting a baseball is more of a confidence thing than about anything in any sport. No room for any doubt. I think the Japanese put PCA on the map , they were enamored with him.
I don't know what happened to him since last year , he must have found a magic bat.

Chase Burns making his debut Tuesday night against the Yankees, should be interesting. Then, he will follow that outing with a start against the Red Sox at Fenway, sink or swim!

He looked legitimate. He came back from 3-0 twice to strike out the batters.

I thought that he had a really solid outing for a 22 yr old making his debut against against the Yanks, and it was nice to see a big crowd at Great American.
Don’t look now, but it appears the old Jacob deGrom is back. He now has 13 straight starts of at least 5 innings with two or fewer runs given up per game. Tonight he had a perfect game through 6 innings, and took a no hitter into the 8th. So far this year has started 16 games, pitched 95+ innings with a 2.08 ERA, and a 8 - 2 record. Still throwing that 97 to 100+ mph fastball too. In several games where he had a big lead through 5 innings they’ve pulled him, as a precautionary move, trying to keep him “fresh” they say. But in a couple of close games he’s gone 90+ pitches.

He certainly seems rejuvenated, and giving the Rangers some excellent outings w/o wearing out the bullpen. A loosely related news item that I saw yesterday....Noah Syndegaard signed a minor league deal with the White Sox.
Corbin has been so-so his last couple of starts but he has been a nice addition for someone they picked from the scrap heap. The Rangers are looking pretty solid despite all the injuries. Luckily, Eovaldi appears to have escaped a lengthy absence.
