KJ, that is a knice find with all the parts intact! I sold one of those a while back for parts that was missing the guard and pommel, but still brought a good price. I had found it at a garage sale also. The handles on yours are in great shape too!

Thanks. Pays to ask “got any old huntin or pocket knives?” He dug out two boxes of stuff most of which was junk but there was an acorn for this blind hog. Got these too, needing some clean up.

Couple finds at the flea market this mornin. Case toothpicks. Both are WR Case & Sons 1993 classics. Candy stripe one is called a barn door hinge I believe.

Unfortunately their pitting on the upper portions of their blades that are not inside their handles when closed is from their celluloid releasing corrosive gas. Since out gassing has begun do not store them with other items that can rust, especially not in closed spaces. Consider having them rehandled. Since they were made by Queen you might have to find some one other than Case to do that.

Today’s find at the local flea market. Hen & rooster Gutmann 3 blade & Jim Bowie German eye copperhead with a Kentucky shield. Good day I think.

Thank you. But I made a mistake. After looking at it agian it’s not a gutmann. It says only C. Bertram Germany on it. Front side of blades has the hen & rooster logo with soligen underneath. Then back side says C.Bertram Any ideas on age of it ?

Found these two today in Pocomoke City, MD and Onancock, Va. on Delmarva. A "Mystery" old Barlow with possible Philadelphia origins and a nearly mint Colonial Melon Tester advertiser from a fruit company in Jessup, MD. Any help on the Barlow is welcome. J.O'.

The name sold, and the current owner added it to the Chinese manufacturers.

Red, As a collector of old, and antique knives, I'm just not a fan of modern knives using highly revered American brand names, I'm not judging the product, I don't know anything of their build or quality, and I understand the names have been sold but, like I said, "It ain't" a piece of American-crafted cutlery, made in Rochester. Using a name to sell a product doesn't make it anything different than what it really it is. It's not a new trick, Japanese and German companies did the same thing many years ago. It's just my opinion. People can collect what they like. I was just responding to your post. J.O'.

I don't like it either, J.O'. They (Pipes and Frost, mainly) have done the same with Miller Bro's, Cattaraugus and many others. I think Cooper now owns New York Knife Co and I would buy one of those.

Being able to distinguish between an original knife and a branded knife is going to be a handy skill in the future to collectors

Most times the PAL round shield is worn down almost smooth, that one looks extra good.
