Thanks, Phil. I am in the Austin area and we are OK here. Kerrville is about 100 miles west of here. We are so sad about loss of life there.treefarmer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:29 pm Good Mornin', Folks.
Slept in this morning. We also heard lots of booms last night, because of the trees we couldn't see the displays other than an occasional flash. Folks must have had a truck load of fireworks, they started about noon yesterday. Finished the mowing with the zt and did some with the tractor in the woods. We enjoyed a laid back 4th.

Bright and sunny this morning, low 70s again. We did get a good shower yesterday, 0.6" during nap time.![]()
Pray for the folks in Texas that are dealing with the flood.Wondering if any of our Texas knifers are involved?

Phil I'm in North Texas but my daughter and her family are in Comfort, TX which is right on the Guadalupe River. So far their property has not flooded because they live several miles away from the river, but the bigger concern is my granddaughter. She was working on staff at one of the summer camps down there and all roads in and out have flooded. They are located in a high area and still have services like electricity and they were already stocked with food so they should be okay for a few days. We're praying the rain will stop long enough for the water level will drop and hopefully the roads can be used to get out. I think someone said that if they are still there by Monday or Tuesday they might have to be flown out by helicopter. Pray for their safety and that this nightmare will end very soon.

Apples have a healthy amount of natural pectin. On your next strawberry rhubarb you could add a cup of grated apple, might help to firm it up.djknife13 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:00 pm Good morning. The storms the weather people have been warning us about all went north. The heat unfortunately hit us, but it's nice and cool in the house. The chickens hated it. I don't think the electrical I have run to the barn would handle a small AC unit. I just made sure they had plenty of water, but even in the shade with water, they look at me with sad eyes panting with the heat. The dogs wouldn't even go out without being pushed out to pee, and then run right back in. Jason and Melody had steaks planned for the 4th meal and Jane had to settle for yogurt. She didn't want steak put through the blender so I suggested me thawing out hamburger for meatballs and she said to thaw some out for today and she wants mashed potatoes and gravy with it, so that's the menu for today. Nothing else is planned. I made a rhubarb /strawberry pie yesterday and it turned out good but didn't get firm enough. Rhubarb pie is a little more tricky for me than my usual apple/rhubarb which I have down pat for our liking. I may make a blooming onion sometime today too. Have a good weekend and avoid travel if possible._____Dave
