Back at it! (Geo. W. Jackson rebuild in zebra wood)

Post by beresman »

After more than eight months away from the workbench (had a nerve problem in my right hand, and ended up having surgery to correct it), I have finished a little project I started almost a year ago. I honestly don't remember where I got this knife, but the scales (which might have been ebony) were in bad shape, and the liners were bent so the knife wouldn't close. I took it apart and tried my best to straighten things out. The main blade is bent just a bit, so it still doesn't like to close nicely, rubbing against the liner, but it at least does close. I really like the zebra wood I used on this, and will probably use more of it on other projects.

The bolsters are iron and I used nickel silver for the pins, because I couldn't find a nail in the size I wanted, and I decided not to drill out the blade pivots. Just laziness on my part, but it's just for my enjoyment, so I'm going to show myself some grace on that.
